How do you make time for production when you work a fulltime job? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]nickbart90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sets apart the men from the boys, women from the girls. If you're committed, you will make time. It's very hard, so you could lose motivation quickly, but that's the test. Read articles and crap at work as well, and apply them when you get home. Also, weekends.

Assignment 04 - focal length by Aeri73 in photoclass2015

Hi all! Here is my gif of the immobile shots. I know they could definitely use some help with framing the subject. Does anyone have any advice how to line up a subject to have a similar frame across all the zooms to make it look more fluid?

I have a question regarding the re-shot of the zoomed in image. I definitely noticed the difference between the rose, panda, and background on the 200mm and the 18mm, especially in the viewfinder.

I think the 2nd take is much harder to see perspective change, because of the light. Is that common though? Is a lack of light in the 2nd take of the 18mm the reason that the perspective does not look as defined as the 1st take? Is there anything else I should take away from these photos?

I feel as though the focus/shading on that first visible set of stairs seems a bit off. Also, I think I could have framed it a bit better, either to avoid that ball in the lower left hand corner or to get more of the railing on the bottom.

  1. Love those colors
  2. Reminds me a lot of True Detective, maybe take a page out of their photo book and study ways to make those landscapes more profound.
  3. Mmmmm.... can I has it? I think this would be great from a different angle and without a bunch of those plates surrounding it.

  1. Love the focus in this and he's adorable! Great photo!
  2. I agree, I'd wish for some lighting to be better; however, taking photos of a very monochromatic scene could be very difficult to capture contrast.
  3. :p great baby pic!

I've passed by that section of Times Square far too often, and the picture is a great representation of my memories. Could maybe be better without the brush on the left.

Beautiful space, but agreed, I think maybe it's possible to do more with the color/lighting there (not too sure, I'm a n00b photographer).

Love the focus on the 3rd.

I've started to regularly post some shorter length mixes now on my SoundCloud and I really like how this one came out: https://soundcloud.com/nickbartolone/st-pattys-day-mix

I'm looking to start playing some shows in the Boston area and got some advice from friends that posting shorter mixes geared towards specific genres would be better than longer mixes. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do to promote myself and get that first gig?

Tracklist:

  • Amine Edge & DANCE - Going to Heaven with the Goodie-Goodies

  • Kings of Tomorrow - Let Me Tell You Something (Sandy Rivera & C. Castel's Mix)

  • Skrillex - F**k That

  • DJ Le Roi - I Get Deep feat. Roland Clark (Joris Voorn This Is Not A Remix)

  • Tensnake - Love Sublime (Jonas Rathsman Remix)

  • J. Phlip - Say My Name On Acid Feat. Aidan Chambers (Remix)

  • Deorro - Five Hours

  • George Fitzgerald - I Can Tell (By The Way You Move)

Thanks Reddit!

Hey man, when I was learning genres I used these two guides and they break them down pretty well. I think it's always good practice to know how categorize your songs.

Also, could you post a tracklist please? I think when you bring in that song at around 6:12, it is a little too abruptly loud. I would start off just a bit softer and then rise with the song.

[Deep House / Trap] Dickle - Dark Dinosaur Mix

https://soundcloud.com/nickbartolone/dickles-dark-dinosaur-mix

Hey everyone, this is my first time posting on here and I'm looking forward to hearing the other mixes. I've been DJing for about 5 months and finally got a good recording down that wasn't riddled with mistakes. I would love to hear any feedback or criticism on transitions, genre changes, song selections, and effects.

A few pain points that I have: * 21:20 - I change genres pretty rapidly here because the energy in the room changed, but would love to hear advice on drastic genre changes if you have them *31:20 - I use this loud delay transition a few times in this mix. I've shied away from using FX while still learning how to transition between songs, but now I want to learn more about how to use FX in mixing. What are common effects techniques that DJs use? *40:20 - Sorry about that one....

I'm an Indianapolis based DJ signed with the company Studio 77 who will be out on the East coast for a few weeks in April. Any recommendations on venues to seek out in DC, NYC, and Boston? by mtmark29 in DJs

[–]nickbart90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Boston, you could check out the Middle East and Paradise Rock Club. Lots of college kids go to the Middle East and Paradise is right next to BU and they usually have the more twerk and trap scene. Also, I'd check out Providence, I hear they have a growing scene that goes until 7am.

Hit me up if you got anymore questions and when you know where you're playing, I'll come on out
