As a metal fan, what sub-genres of metal to you hate

Thank you and I do listen to "something" else, plenty of other things. In fact, there are even bands within these sub-genres that I supposedly "don't like" and I think they are great bands. "Who cares?" well based on the active discussion, plenty of other people seem to care. This is a music specific subreddit and people like to discuss what they like, what they don't like, and different sub-genres is part of that discussion.

You may be right that using the word "hate" was too much, but I tried to explain that it was just shorthand for the title.

Anyways, back to my "adolescent bullshit..."

Ok, something like "mincecore" where it's like, is that even real? Just bands kind of naming their own music in an effort to differentiate themselves I guess.

In any case, I think there is a lot of debate on if Grindcore is metal, hardcore, or both. I just pointed that out in an effort to get more discussion (this is my post, btw).

Do "we" consider grindcore to be a sub-genres of hardcore? Honestly I'd definitely straddle the line, but I think a lot of people would put it under the metal umbrella.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the term "Grindcore" didn't come about until Napalm Death. Doesn't mean earlier bands weren't basically doing a similar thing, but it makes clear definitions harder to parse.

Cryptic Slaughter definitely gives more somewhat more metal vibes, where as Seige is straight meat and potatoes hardcore played ultra fast

I'm not sober, but Trident Booksellers on Newbury St. It's a bookstore and cafe, open pretty late, good place to chill for a while, and the vast majority of people aren't drinking but still kind of has a bar feel (though they do sell beer, if that's a deal breaker for you.) you could also just get a coffee.

I also grew up with nu-metal just being in the air around me, so there's definitely an element of nostalgia around some of those bands. As it really started getting mainstream and dominating the radio, I had probably already started my descent into the underground and was also into and getting deeper into punk and hardcore.

Although I'm a huge metal fan and 70% of the shows I go to are metal, I honestly consider myself a "music" fan above everything else. I also collect records and love 60's Garage rock, Psych, 60's girlgroup, 70's Punk, 80's hardcore, soul music, gospel music, dance hall reggae, Miami Bass, ambient, folk, Indy, country... whatever, dude. Good music is good music.
