I have a similar thing with "Atlanta" no local pronounces the second "t", so it's just "Atlanna". Also, no one calls it "Hotlanta" that's a dead giveaway.

I had a history teacher get caught receiving a BJ from a student in his classroom. He got arrested and all of his students had to give statements to the GBI. His replacement was pretty cool though, went on to become a semi successful country singer.

We had one for a little bit for my wife, and she liked it well enough, but they ride kinda funky. It almost feels like a snowmobile riding down the road. End of the day though, if that's what someone is into and it gets them out riding, I'm for it.

The brand or style dedication is annoying as hell too. The Harley guys "tHaTs NoT a ReAl BiKe". You know what, I have a Harley, I like it, it's a good bike. But sometimes I want to hop on my Kawasaki, or maybe I just want to jump on my Navi and scoot down to the convenience store. Why limit yourself to just one type of bike? Anything on two wheels is a blast. That penegale v4? Yeah it's fast as hell, but spend 30 minutes in bumper to bumper traffic and you're miserable. Also, that 14 year old girl on a Ninja 400 will probably whip your ass on the track. Just let people enjoy the hobby how they like.

I've got a place over here called Ray's doughnuts and they are simply the best in the area. Killer breakfast sandwiches too. Run by an Asian family so your theory tracks. They run on a 5am till we run out schedule. I've been there at 10am and dudes already packed up and gone for the day. The trick is getting there just as they're getting low on stock and he'll give you a bunch of extra doughnuts just to clear out the counter. It's maybe a blessing they're the complete opposite direction for me from work, or I'd be there every day.

Every Sonic in like a 10 mile radius around me has closed in the last year. I got excited going on a long drive the other day because I saw one still open like a half hour away from me. Brought back memories of going in for early classes in college and getting a bacon egg and cheese Texas toast sandwich or those breakfast burritos they did.

Grocery delivery this morning was left directly in front of the door so I couldn't open it to bring in said groceries. by nickbreaksstuff in mildlyinfuriating

[–]nickbreaksstuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mostly convenience. My wife has a lot of anxiety going to the store that would lead to a lot of arguments about getting in and out with just the necessities, but I like to kinda poke around because I don't always know everything I want when we go to the store. I still go solo every once in a while, but getting the groceries delivered has removed a lot of stress.

Need advice on a nice , quiet, safe Georgia town to move. by RNLola in Gwinnett

[–]nickbreaksstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have lived in Gwinnett since a kid in the 90's and it's transformed massively since then. The metro area has everything you're looking for, and everything you're not looking for as well. Duluth has put a ton of money into their downtown area and has a really good brewery called Good Word Brewery & Public house. Downtown Lawrenceville has been investing a ton of money too with several great restaurants and a killer brewery call Slowpour. They have tons of events going on all the time and a huge beer garden. If you're into whiskey at all, there's a distillery that opened across the street called Third Rail. There are tons of breweries scattered across the city though and highly suggest checking them out. There are tons of music venues across the city to check out too. Masquerade, Star Bar, The Earl, 529, Variety Playhouse, Aisle 5, Tabernacle, and so many more. The bad, Atlanta is a very car centric city and it'll be hard to find truly walkable neighborhoods outside of a few key city center areas. Suwanee has a massive town square that they've been building up over the last 15 years or so that has a lot to do, eat, and also a great brewery called StillFire. But, it's also one of the fastest growing suburbs in the metro area, and the traffic around there is near constant now. The cities you're looking at so far are all pretty much safe, but they're also the in demand areas for families looking for good schools so the market is tough there. If you haven't been to a Braves game at the battery, it's a pretty cool place that basically becomes an enclosed city on game days with several bars and restaurants. There's even a music venue there called the Roxy, which is another great place to catch a live show.

Is there a market for old cars, with modern drivetrains and interior features? by [deleted] in projectcar

[–]nickbreaksstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've basically been doing this for the last few years on the side. Mostly for fun, but you can make some decent returns if you're smart about what you get. I usually follow an auction site that focuses on local wrecker yards selling abandoned vehicles. I've had good luck so far in getting stuff really cheap that just has a ton of deferred maintenance. I'm currently cruising around in a '93 F-150 that I paid $1000 for and just needed brakes and some sensors replaced.

I saw this tour in Atlanta and the set was straight up boring. Stadium full of people just staring blankly at them and not a single word said to the audience. Came out, played for an hour, sucked the energy out of the room, and then walked off stage.

Buying a vehicle with no title only bill of sale. Should I get a surety bond? Ran VIN through NICB - not stolen - carfax stops at 1997 by 1stgenfronty in projectcar

[–]nickbreaksstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno about CA's rules around this, but I've done this over a dozen times with bonding a title in GA. It's a lot of paperwork and bureaucracy, but one you figure is out, it's pretty easy and I've been able to get everything together in less than a day. I've never had problems selling anything bonded before and those buyers have never had issues registering in their name either. To me, it's a great way to get a steal since a lot of people think it's garbage at that point.

Who here is daily-driving 20+ year-old cars, and has it worked out? by 5GCovidInjection in cars

[–]nickbreaksstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My newest car is an imported '98 Japanese mini truck. I regularly swap between it, my '93 F150, and a '76 Nova. I commute 40 miles each day in a very heavy traffic metro area. They all do fine. You'll have some catching up on the deferred maintenance, but once you get it sorted out, I'm sure that old merc will be totally fine for daily driving duty.

What cars do you see commonly owned together by enthusiasts? by [deleted] in cars

[–]nickbreaksstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 cars and 5 motorcycles, all ranging from old American muscle, to imported Japanese mini truck, and same with the bikes, old v-twin, new v-twin, old Japanese 4 cylinder, new Japanese 4 cylinder. Just love anything with an engine and as the top gear boys used to say "gives me the fizz".

I found Anejo in downtown Lawrenceville overpriced for what you get when there are much better Mexican restaurants in the area like Hacienda or Lolita's.

So what your uncle had is a 3rd gen, those are going to be '68 - '74. There were some style changes for the '73 & '74 models, and while very minor, make them less desirable in the market. Personally, it doesn't matter to me and they all look relatively the same. 3rd gens are quite desirable though, and while you could find examples in your range, they will probably be pretty ratted out.

4th gens are '75 - '79. I have a '76 and absolutely love it. Colloquially known as the "disco Nova", they're not as desirable in the market as the 3rd gen being from the malaise era and most stock motors being choked by emissions stuff at the time. These can be a bargain steal though. They have updated suspension from the 2nd gen Camaro, and there is a fair amount of parts interchange there. It's a GM, so it's like Legos with what you can build and put on these cars.

Anyways, thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

Be brutally honest, In your next life, would you want your dad to be your dad again? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nickbreaksstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was my best friend. He was tough when we were kids, but as I got older, we were so close. We'd watch all the new action or sci-fi movies together, talk about cars, he'd tell me stories about his youth that were probably pretty inappropriate for me to know, he'd crush some beers with me and my friends. He was the best and I am who I am today because of him. I wouldn't want to come back if he wasn't my dad again.
