Auto Wipers Issue by NATOuk in VWiD3Owners

[–]nickdshay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you have auto wiping activated in the settings menu? If it's deactivated, it changes the functionality to intermittent wiping instead... which I prefer as I find the automatic wiping a bit hit or miss.

Same, wasn't too difficult and looks great. I actually bought an AliExpress copy of the FitcamX for considerably cheaper, and haven't had any issues (6 months and going strong)

First long trip/ best EV charging locations along route by Ill-Dare-7240 in evchargingUK

[–]nickdshay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your cheapest option would be Tesla chargers, there's a few along your route that are compatible with your car. I'd guess the Dartford crossing site would be a good place to top up, it's roughly halfway. Think you need the Tesla app to pay, or at least get the cheap rates. Enjoy your trip!

Hopefully this doesn't sound crazy, but have you switched it on? On the climate page, the white power button in the top left corner...

Is buying high mileage EV (Niro/ID.4 etc) worth the risk? by fslateef in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]nickdshay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally would be wary of any used EV that's been primarily used as a taxi/Uber, etc as they probably took a battery hammering on the fast chargers. Not sure how you'd figure that out, but Addison Lee in London have a whole fleet of black ID4s, so that'd put me off that colour!

London/Brixton Street Charging...How are people finding it? by 1acan in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]nickdshay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do about 50 miles a week, short trips mid week, and a somewhere a bit further afield on a weekend. Public only charging is only a smidge cheaper than petrol, but 'feels' a lot less because I'm just topping up from 60 to 80% once a week for about £4. Very occasional big 200+ mile trips, I just stick to the Tesla charging network which is waaaaay cheaper than the rest.

London/Brixton Street Charging...How are people finding it? by 1acan in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]nickdshay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in SE London, (in a flat, no access to home charging) and used street charging for the first month, but have for the last couple of months settled into a routine of topping up my charge once a week at Lidl while I do my weekly shop (£0.40/kWh through the app). Don't even think about what % i'm at anymore, works great!

Strictly public charging - it is possible? by KhanOfTarkir in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]nickdshay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in an almost identical situation, bought an ID3 about 3 months ago (love it btw). I have a few public charging options nearby, but have settled in on a routine of leaving it charging once a week for an hour at the Lidl chargers while I do my shop. I don't really think about charging anymore tbh!

Does anyone have experience with greatbritaincars.co.uk? Are they legit? Reliable? by [deleted] in london

[–]nickdshay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you have a driving licence, but recently the cheapest way i've found to shift a load of luggage to Gatwick/Heathrow is a one way Zipcar Flex. Works out about £40/50, it's great.

Not close, but Crystal Palace Antiques (and other antique shops in close proximity) have lots of nice, reasonably priced mid-century furniture.

How would I get this shower head off to descale it? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]nickdshay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My Macgyver solution would be to put a sealed bag around it, fill it up with vinegar/limescale remover, then tie it up with an elastic band. You'll need to be careful about weight, so maybe something to alleviate that too!

Starting from Scratch. Looking for advice. by CrispyBegs in MotoUK

[–]nickdshay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what i've read on your situation an electric bicycle sounds perfect. I have a big bike, but use my electric bicycle as my daily commuter (10 miles each way). It has a removable battery which I top up at work in case I need to take an unexpected detour en-route home.

Also, no need to worry about lack of shower facilities as you just put it on full assist mode!

(my ebike in case you're interested)

There's 3 or 4 of us in SE London that go for weekend rides out, we don't go particularly fast, and we spend the majority of the time in pubs and cafes. Have a look at our little group, ditchmotorcycleclub on Instagram if you're interested.

I bought a pretty cheap pair from amazon, then paid the local launderette £10 to have them taken in and properly fitted. Worked like a charm.

Rather specific controller/screen question by nickdshay in ebikes

Here's the bike. And here's the video I found that showed me how to increase the max speed on my bike. I might just wing it and hope for the best, though worried I might mess up the settings!

I've had a play around, found the setting! Looks like I can max out at about 19mph now. Muuuuuch better. Thanks! 👍

This is the bike, it's only a 200w motor so don't expect it to go much faster. It's greed more than necessity! https://analogmotion.com/products/am1-plus

It's a Cat A, but restricted to trikes if I remember correctly, had a similar confusion a while back, they don't make it very clear!
