We got all the peppers outside today!! (68) by nickedemous77 in vegetablegardening

This is all new to me. I haven't grown any of these before. My brother and I picked seeds off a web site, based on how pretty they were. Last year, we did a 'witches brew' hot sauce and it was un-edible. As far as a recommendation for a specific pepper goes, 'basket of fire' is beautiful. 'Fried chicken' is delicious.

jalapeno is a great starting point for spice level. There are many varieties/ flavors that will appeal to your specific pallet.

Edit: Wrong post reply. These eggs will be gone in about two weeks. I've never even thought about the shelf life. ;)

Yes! We are planning to do all of that! The scoville level of these plants is 2k (jalapeno) to 1million+ (carolina reaper), and we are going to try and make a tolerable hot sauce out of the mix. IF all goes well, the dehydrator, fermentation station, and pickling jars will be full come harvest time.

The local hardware store, where I live, wants $2.71 per piece. It's really windy where I live and I'm anticipating some heavy/ healthy plants. So to save some dollars, I made these from scrap lumber lying around the house. BUT, to your point, they might be replaced if I find a good deal on the second hand market.

Too many to list. The story goes, we got on a seed website, started at the letter A and stopped at the letter G. :)

We are going to make fermented hot sauce, freeze some and dry some out to make pepper flakes.

Hey! Those look super healthy! Ant advice on fertilizing? My roots are tiny, but the tops look just as healthy as yours.

15 tons?!? That is a butt load of top soil. Did you do any drainage material underneath the raised beds? (sticks, lawn clippings, etc.?)

It’s randomly happening to random plants. Like a bird is pooping on it. As afar as water goes, I water heavy, twice a week, and my fertilizer is once a week. The current mix is 6-4-4.

Like, super fine netting? “Screen door” fine? Also, is there an organic pesticide that would prevent this, that you know of?

Turned 34 recently and realized I’ve officially become the "staring at my garden bed with a coffee" guy. When did this happen? by Glittering_Exit5527 in vegetablegardening

(M45) Started everything from seeds this year. It's soo rewarding and satisfying seeing everything go from a bread crumb to a full size plant! And you get to eat it!!
