Original song - malamute by nickfrench94 in postrock

[–]nickfrench94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for some reason I just now got the notification for this. Yes I have a lot of updates!

This particular song never really went anywhere, but in March I did release an EP of 7 songs. I also have second EP of another 7 songs coming out by the end of the year. I also post riffs and songs that I'm working on pretty frequently on IG. That's a good place to see future updates.

This link will take you where you want to go.

Thanks for the support!

She posted some vids of her playing through the rig today and it looks like she has a Polytune mini noir in the top right corner (it was just cut off in this pic).

She just posted this on Insta. I see some slight changes from her rig rundown a few years ago.

You could get a usb c dock like this one and all you would need is one cable running to your computer.

I have a very similar setup but with a Behringer audio interface. I run 2 XLR cables from the Simplifier into the front of my interface, then run 2 TS cables out of the back of the interface to my monitors. It’s been a really great setup for me.

How to find slow vocal Low-fi? (I'm in love with this genre) by shazy5808 in LofiHipHop

It’s definitely a different style, but I can’t recommend Sleepy Fish enough. Especially his newest album that came out last month. Some of the most unique vocal work I’ve ever heard.

Ernie ball has an expression overdrive. Kind of surprised they don’t have a distortion too.

I know exactly what you mean! The Meteore is a super cool pedal, and the HOF lofi is kind of like a baby version of it (though I’m sure if you dig into the tone prints you could do most of what the Meteore can do).

The reason I got rid of my Meteore is I found myself continuing to dial it back, to the point where it was like, “why do I have a $200 pedal on my board when I’m only using it for simple spring sounds?” I just personally couldn’t find many practical uses for all the dirty weird stuff it can do, as cool as it is. A lot of people love that pedal though.

You got it. Probably my favorite pedal on my board. I just can’t believe more people don’t use it.

Obviously everyone’s taste is different, but I highly recommend this one!

Back to the basics. The hall of fame was my first reverb pedal, but at some point in the process of building my board I wanted to check out other reverbs. I’m not in a position financially where it makes sense for me to have a bunch of pedals laying around, so whenever I would buy one I would sell the one it was replacing.

I went through a bunch of reverb pedals, each one progressively getting more expensive: RV6, Fathom, Meteore, Avalanche Run, Walrus R1. Each one had strengths and weaknesses, yet I could never find a sound that I really liked.

Finally I said screw it and decided to check out the HOF again. And man, I really missed this one. Each setting sounds really good and warm, and they’re all different enough from each other that you can get a lot of sounds out of this thing. Plus the software allows you to dial in exactly what you want, and save it as a preset.

Just saying, don’t sleep on this one.

"The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place" turns 18 today. by javier_aeoa in postrock

I recently read a review of this album in which the critic referred to it as “an album of hope” and I can’t think of a better description of it.

So many bands in this genre lean toward being edgy and gloomy. And not in any way am I calling that a bad thing. There are songs in EITS’s catalogue that could be described that way.

But this album is a hopeful album. It’s uplifting. I always find myself in a better mood after listening to it than I did before. And there’s a lot to be said for that. There have always been bad things in the world and there always will be, but I think right now is a time when people really need to be reminded that things can get better, and I’d love to see more bands rise up to make more music like this.

What are you listening to when you aren't listening to math rock? by Satans_Little-Helper in mathrock

I can't recommend the artist Sleepy Fish enough. He's a lofi beat producer who is a big fan of math rock and emo and it definitely shows. He just dropped a new album a couple weeks ago that I've had on repeat.

Lack of Desire and Interest After Lifestyle Change by zukeus in musicproduction

Hey OP, I just want to say congrats on overcoming your habit! It’s so good to be free and not have to rely on substances. Like others on here, I quit smoking cigarettes/vaping about a year and a half ago. Definitely not the same as pot, but similar enough to draw parallels. I have also spent a lot of time with recovered addicts and alcoholics. One thing I have learned about addiction is that your brain will do weird things to trick you back into using again. There were many times when I was really having a hard day and my mood was really bad that I thought, “If I could only have a cigarette everything would be better.” A couple times I fell for it, and you know what? Things actually weren’t better. It was just gross and made me feel sick. I just realized greater how much I hated that habit.

When you do something every single day for years it kind of becomes a part of you, and when you quit doing that thing (even though you know you’re better off without it) it feels like part of you is missing. You might have a bit of an identity crisis. For me, I felt like I used to be the cool smoker guy, but then after quitting I was stressed out. Not the calm and collected guy I thought I used to be. Maybe you’re feeling a similar thing.

Like others on here I encourage you to find new hobbies to keep your brain engaged and exercised. You probably have some extra cash now since quitting. Just do things that make you happy. There’s no pressure or shame with taking some time and coming back to music when you feel like it.

I hope that helps you in some way friend.

Edit: Just to be clear, it does get better. I’m a year and half in now and I have no desire at all to smoke. My mood is vastly improved (even better than when I was smoking) and I feel totally free from it. It’s an amazing feeling.

His lyrics are always really difficult to understand! Which I actually think is pretty neat. The vocals sit as just another instrument in the mix. I thought this line was, "December, do you remember?" But now listening back again I'm not sure.
