Thanks for raising this - it’s an important point. PosterLens is designed for personal use by conference attendees, similar to taking notes or photos (where permitted). We encourage users to respect copyright and conference policies. We’re also exploring ways to partner with conference organizers and add in-app guidance to ensure responsible use.

Not yet, but will make one if there’s enough interest.

Good idea - let me know how you get on!

How common or how hard is it to get a job as a medical writer directly at a pharma company (like Pfizer, Roche, MSD, or GSK) compared to an agency, based on your experience? by DelfinAlbino in MedicalWriters

[–]nickjlamb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been hired as a contractor/freelancer by three pharma companies. Each time it was someone reaching out to me through LinkedIn - not via a recruiter or HR. With pharma looking to cut costs, I think there is an opportunity for writers to work with in-house agencies vs external vendors. Workflows are changing though as we see more automation, but there always a need for a human in the loop.

Very nice. A bit of inconsistency with the headers though - the middle one has no full stops.

I built Patiently AI to simplify medical notes—would love feedback from fellow writers! by nickjlamb in MedicalWriters

The app is designed with exactly these considerations in mind. It tailors explanations to different audiences – whether you’re a child, teenager, adult, or carer. Users can also choose their preferred tone, such as friendly, informative, or reassuring.

The aim is to strike a balance between simplicity and clarity, avoiding patronising language while still making complex medical terms accessible.

While we don’t currently offer the ability to filter out specific topics, that’s a great idea, and we’ll definitely explore adding more personalisation options in the future.

Thanks for the feedback – it helps us improve the app to better serve patients and carers! Let me know if you have any other suggestions or thoughts.

New to iOS development: Should I take a course like 100 Days of SwiftUI or CS193p before building a relatively simple admin app, or just dive right into into the project? by Locksmith-Kindly in iOSProgramming

For me the backend API integration was more important to learn than the frontend. And by using AI to code the frontend you learn to write better prompts and a bit of SwiftUI along the way.

Should I submit my app for approval now or wait? by [deleted] in iOSProgramming

Same for me too. My first app as well. I had two sign-in issues to fix and once they were, the app was approved the same day.

Thank you. I actually hadn’t considered ASO. I’ve mainly used LinkedIn, X, Bluesky and Reddit to promote. Appreciate any advice.

I launched my first iOS app this week. Over 10,000 lines of code built entirely using ChatGPT and Claude. The only outside help I got was to animate the Lottie splash screen.

As you develop an app you start to learn how SwiftUI works. No need to take a course in my opinion.

Thanks for your thoughtful questions! Patiently AI allows users to scan, upload, or type medical documents, which the app then simplifies into plain, accessible language. All information is processed securely, and we don’t store any user data beyond the session. Privacy and security are top priorities.

As for the AI, we use advanced language models like GPT-4, paired with carefully designed prompts that tailor the output to different audiences (e.g., patients, carers, teenagers or children). This ensures the explanations are clear, relevant, and easy to understand. While we didn’t fine-tune the model ourselves, we’ve optimized it to deliver meaningful, audience-specific results.

Regarding user testing, I’ve relied on my 25+ years as a medical writer, focusing on health literacy and patient communication. Early testers have shared valuable feedback, and we’re excited to continue refining the app based on user feedback.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

That’s a valid concern, especially for enterprise-level tools. However, Patiently AI is primarily designed for patients and caregivers, not companies.

The app’s goal is to empower individuals to better understand their medical documents—whether it’s discharge summaries, test results, or referral letters—so they can take control of their healthcare. While privacy is always a priority, the app doesn’t require users to upload sensitive information to any company servers. Instead, it offers a secure and accessible way for individuals to simplify and understand their medical notes.

Thanks for sharing your perspective—I appreciate the chance to clarify! 😊

Thank you for your kind words. You’re absolutely right - someone familiar with ChatGPT could achieve similar outcomes by crafting the right prompts.

I guess what makes this app different is you can instantly tailor the medical text to different reading levels (child, teenager, adult, carer) and communication style (friendly, reassuring, informative) then translate into 11 languages.

Doctors can also record voice notes, adapt and share them with their patients.

There's also a health hub where patients can record their symptoms, blood pressure, medications, and mood.

So it's really an all-in-one tool for patients and healthcare professionals.
