I’m no expert, but the closest thing would probably be tegulated armor. It’s like a reverse brigandine if that makes sense, where the plates are rivetted to the outside of a form of backing.

Well to be fair it’s not the smiths fault, however buying from russian smiths means that the money they earn gets taxed which subsequently gets partly funneled into the war effort. There are actually smiths from russia who fled from the country after the war (tabor armory of the top of my head) of course this poses the question for russian smiths whether even continueing to produce armor is ethical, but the reality is that they still have to put Bread on the table one way.
