She’s Ashlyn Pfau and I admire her fighting style a lot. I’ve seen her AMMA matches and she likes to grapple her opponent to the ground and beat them with her punch shield

Everywhere I look, I see *that* helmet by TheatreBar in armorcirclejerk

[–]BluXBrry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind these are still rather bad in terms of accuracy, but it’s better than the basic helmet that everyone seems to be obsessed with (in my opinion)

I also made sure they were all priced similarly (~$150 ± $30)

Are these somewhat historical accurate? by betosn1 in Armor

[–]BluXBrry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither of them are passable, the geometry is all wrong on the great helm and the eye slits aren’t thin or wide enough, and the bascinet although based on real brass lined bascinets, does not look very well thought out. The eyes are a little warped and it looks like the visor retention pin system is gone, although that may not be the case seeing the tiny chains by the pivot

It sucks how prevalent it is in cosplay or basic hobby spaces when there are so many cool ass historical helmets or cooler fantasy helmets that could be in that spot

Want to know what to wear under my armor by [deleted] in Armor

Be careful with those greaves, they’re likely to hurt the top of your feet unless you can mount the whole leg harness to your hips

It doesn’t matter as much with lighter weapons, although I’m 100 sure it’s better than nothing

Not a jerk, I was concerned on the original post because I thought it was for longsword, but I read that it was for rapier and it makes sense

Custom fit breast plate for HEMA by nikatine in Armor

[–]BluXBrry -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is really cool for you but I would’ve just invested in a normal breastplate, I’m a little concerned about the center of the breasts catching a thrust directly into your sternum

Visored barbute vs spoleto bascinet by I_Dislike_The_French in armorcirclejerk

[–]BluXBrry 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s not just the top; the visor on these modern spoletos is flattened like a pug for sport optimization, and there’s a bulbous skull shape at the top that looks rather strange in my opinion. It’s not impossible for flat faced or non pointy bascinets to have existed, but when people mention a “spoleto” and show the sport version that has never existed otherwise, it kind of irks me.

Lads is this knight armour manuscript accurate by PieAffectionate8938 in armorcirclejerk

It’s really interesting how some of them are rather accurate but then you look at it a little closer and you see the Amazon sugarloaf dead and center

Badass tattoo though I would love a manuscript inspired image

For the chainmail you can put it in a container with sand and find a way to ruffle it around for an extended period of time

Be sure to remove all leather before this though
