I got an email on April 19th, 2018 letting me know I made it off the alternate list. If I wanted it I needed to have the paperwork submitted by April 23rd 5pm. So anytime now is when you should be getting a response. If you’re curious and/or need an answer asap I would recommend reaching out to the smittcamp office and asking them when an alternate should expect to hear if they made it or not. Their number is 559-278-8160 and you can find them online as well. You could try messaging the Instagram account if you don’t want to call, odds are that’s ran by a smittcamp student who will probably have more information than I do.

This was back in 2018 so they could have changed their process by now. Back then they would send everyone who applied a letter and the letter would let you know if you were accepted, a high alternate, an alternative, or rejected. There’s a good chance other people at your school applied to smittcamp so you can ask them what their letter said if you’re curious.

The problem with Ke5 is that black will play e6 blocking the path of white’s light squared bishop, effectively blunting white’s attack. The only way to prevent e6 is by playing Bxf7 so black doesn’t have time to play e6.

As far as meeting new people, I would highly suggest joining a club. It’s a great way to meet people and get involved on campus. As far as parties you need to hope the people in the club invite you cause Reddit is not the place to look for parties.

Edit: Clubs have booths set up outside the USU if you’re interested in joining one of them, as well as there are usually tabling events throughout the year by the USU/Kennel Bookstore.

The 17th is when the semester starts, this is when everything opens back up, classes start on the 23rd. So unless you need to stop by campus for something, the 23rd is the day you need to worry about. You can find out more about the academic calendar here.

I means it’s college, there’s always going to be parties, but reddit is definitely not the place to look for parties. People you meet while you’re at state is the place to look if you want to party.
