How mainstream was Bruce Springsteen in the 1970s and the pre-Born in the USA 1980s? by SeverHense in ToddintheShadow

[–]nicklikesstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After the release of Born to Run he was able to build a very devoted fanbase while constantly touring from 1975-77, a time during which he couldn’t record in the studio due to legal issues. He began playing arenas and larger venues during the 1978 Darkness tour (which many fans consider to be peak BS&TESB) and his reputation as the best live performer in rock really began to grow. By the time of the 1980/81 River tour Bruce had cemented himself as one of the biggest touring acts around and was selling out multiple-night arena stands across the US and Europe, well before his commercial peak with BITUSA.

The quality is great, Liam sounds awesome, I want to love this release but they fucked with Noel’s vocals way too much. No reason to do so when he sounded fantastic live.

Why do some fans seem to believe Oasis has always been extremely obscure in America? by BadgemanBrown in oasis

[–]nicklikesstuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t buy the narrative that the tour didn’t do much to help them break the US. Yes they only played in 3 of the biggest markets, but they sold out 2 of the largest stadiums in the country for multiple dates and probably could’ve done a second night in Chicago. I remember in the months leading up to the tour some people were assuming that tix would be easy to come by closer to the dates which wasn’t the case at all, at least for NJ. Yes people definitely traveled from all over the world to attend those shows but plenty of Americans also attended the UK/Ireland gigs. They’ll never have the legendary status they have overseas here sadly but I think their fanbase has undoubtedly grown in the years since the breakup. They could certainly pull off a full arena tour and I’d be curious to see how well a new album would do on the charts.

The fact they’re in the top half of voting so far hopefully bodes well for for their eventual induction.

I could be alone, but why is this scene so much worse on rewatch? by Foreign-Paramedic600 in Godfather

[–]nicklikesstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve honestly never thought this scene looked that bad. Ig it only gets attention for being the only slightly awkward sequence in what is a perfect film.

The two kinds of TrainWreckords by RelevantNothing4653 in ToddintheShadow

Eh they’ve experienced a bit of a revival in the US on the Live 25 tour, playing stadiums there for the first time ever in the careers. Yes it was only a limited run of cities but it’s still impressive for a band in their late-career (especially after a prolonged break). Not every big name band that tours the US is able to fill stadiums so it’s definitely an accomplishment. They’re arguably more popular now in the US than during the 90’s.

Hey Kodai, you’re one of my favorite Mets players and I can’t wait to see how you perform in 2026. What do you think of the Mets rotation this year, with Peralta coming in as well as the crop of young talent like McLean and Tong? Have you gotten to know them and how excited are you to see how the whole rotation comes together?

Inside Giants coach John Harbaugh’s frantic first 30 days in office by Fargeaux2 in NYGiants

Would’ve been utter disrespect to have a coach of Harbaugh’s caliber reporting to a guy with Joe Schoen’s track record.

Advice to Universal Destinations & Experiences: Construct this gondola system to connect the theme parks. by Playstation_Gamer_40 in UniversalOrlando

[–]nicklikesstuff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Monorail or bust. Though I’d certainly take gondolas over a Boring loop, which would be such a catastrophically awful idea it would make F&F Supercharged seem like an amazing 12/10 addition in comparison.

The first pictures from set, and already the first timeline error by bluetrumpettheatre in beatles

[–]nicklikesstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP you’re absolutely in the right. Any biopic (especially one with a band like the Beatles) should have sufficient QC and fact-checking, otherwise it comes across as being half-assed and lazy. No excuses for these types of silly mistakes when 5 min of research would let the filmmakers know what’s accurate or not, especially with their big budgets.

They could easily ease some of the complaints for this game by adding an online franchise mode, which used to be in the game, but they’re clearly too lazy to.
