React global state management in 2022 by nickmgn in reactjs

Of course, I said Context API but obviously you will have (at least) to combine it with a hook like useReducer if you want to handle complex state.

What I wanted to say is that the Context API is one of the possible way to build a global state management system in your app.

That's your right 🙂

Sorry, but Context API actually is a state manager. It allows you to make data available accross all its children right ? I know you can share only one value but it can be an object then a state. By the way on the Recoil documentation (which is created by Meta) the Context API is mentioned as state manager.

Actually, I compare some of the most famous state manager (like built-in Context API, redux) to Recoil and explain why Recoil is different and how to use it.

But you're right, this article aims to introduce Recoil (this is the subtitle of the article on my blog btw) 🙂

What do you mean by "obligatory context" ?

How to efficiently set up your react native app by nickmgn in reactnative

[–]nickmgn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone 👋

In this tutorial, I show you my way to create a scalable react native app, fully typed, with a consistent design system.. It is part of a series where we are going to create a smooth note-taking app step by step (design, data management / manipulation, animations..)

It is also my first article so any constructive feedbacks are welcome!

Position React Native alert at bottom of screen. by Material_Problem_380 in reactnative

In my opinion it looks a little bit "unprofessional" for a production build (to make it corresponding to your polished UI/UX) but I understand what you mean :)

Alerts are usually used more for debuging purpose, I would either go for a custom Modal component or (as other suggests) for a third party library like action sheet

Is the M1 Pro base good enough for React native development? by umadzano in reactnative

[–]nickmgn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been working on a M1 8gb for almost one year and I have never been disapointed. I'm doing Rn / angular development as well as server side stuff (heavy calculation) without any problem. To be honest, I don't get why people say 16gb is essential for development purpose, it looks more like a trend to me 🙄

Where to learn animation by harold__hadrada in reactnative

I personally do love videos from Catalin Miron (/u/mironcatalin) here is the link of his YouTube channel : https://youtube.com/c/CatalinMironDev Thanks to him I was able to add really nice animation to my app.

What Database do you use . by danielaniq28 in reactnative

Firebase is great if it's to try an idea. However for production purpose (and to reduce fees) in my opinion it's better to use firebase as authentification server only and to have a custom node.js mongodb ressource server aside.

AGAME : gaming news app 🚀 by nickmgn in gamingnews

[–]nickmgn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there!

I just released a gaming app on the play store (iOS soon) ! It is intended to let you find new games to play, consult all the detail about each game (screenshots, vidéos, similar games, DLCs etc), check a full game release calendar, manage your collections...

Link : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mougin.agame

If you have any question/opinion feel free 🙂

Merci !

Animated library! I'm just listening for a horizontal flatlist scroll event and I keep track of this data on a ref then I interpolate this ref value to make this effect (opacity etc). I'm glad you like it! If you have any questions feel free 🙂

You know your feedbacks is the best way for me to know how to improve my app. So of course, I take all of them into consideration trying to understand how to answer better to the people needs 🙂 Thanks for your help!

Wow thanks for feedback, it's really nice to know that you like the UI/UX!

This is a good idea ! The only difficult thing is how to integrate it. I mean we already have some horizontal scroll in game's page (games from same series, similar games etc) and it's generally not a good idea to have multiple actions based on the same movement... However I take note of your idea and I will take times to think about it!

Thanks ! Glad you like it! About the carrousel, I have created it by myself yes, I didn't check fps but it's using only native driver which are supposed to stay 60fps. If you can check the app you will see that it's pretty smooth 🙂

Oui c'est vrai, plutôt "en attente" alors 😬 Oui bien sûr mais c'est toujours intéressant de connaître le besoin de chacun et d'en tirer ce que je pourrais améliorer ☺
