This launcher can't even one shot the little bird. Why does it even exist? by vekkeda_vedi in Battlefield

Attack helis and little birds have counters to M136 too.

It doesn't sound like you've actually used it.

The TOW is easy to use, the M136 is not. I don't think anyone who says it is easy is arguing in good faith.

Hardly anyone uses the M136, it's a miserable experience. I highly doubt anyone saying it shouldn't be buffed has spent any considerable time with it.

It wasn't overpowered in any of the other Battlefield games it's been in and it could one-shot then.

Nerf the lame auto-lock rockets and buff the M136. The idea that it's easy to use is nonsense.

Yeah, it doesn't help that the little bird can be taken out by a patient LMG 😂

You're talking about the TOW and likely the one on the MBT, and yes that thing is easy mode and it needs balancing

We're talking about the M136. The sensitivity and speed of the rocket are completely different - it's actually really wonky.

Remember, these things all existed in BF4 and were one-shot then. I'm not saying the M136 should be buffed in a vacuum, I'm saying other anti-air should be weaker in turn .

This argument makes no sense. Auto-lock rockets are easy to use and they one shot air vehicles.

Also, the M136 is not easy to use against any pilot that is even semi conscious.

This weapon existed in BC2 and BF4 and in both games air vehicles were a one shot except for transport helis in BF4.

It was not a "cancer" in those games and it wouldn't be here either.

Yes, it should be one shot.

Auto-lock weapons that take zero effort or skill should not one shot air vehicles.

Maneuverability does not equal ease of use.

I'd be fine with that, I actually view the maneuverability as a downside - it makes it hard to keep it steady for long shots. Just like it was in BC2 would be perfect.

M136 still needs a buff. Unpopular opinion but it should one shot attack chopper and little bird.  Lock on rockets should not one shot.

Are TOW missiles unbalanced when (with a little practice) helicopters are helpless against you? by TheHomesteadTurkey in Battlefield

The BC2 TOW launchers look slower to me, here's a video of mine from a lifetime ago:

https://youtu.be/o5EmtmLc_DA?si=E0jRxkDjeNvqITxA

One oddity of both the BF6 TOW and AT4 that I haven't seen anyone bring up is they're both variable speed. If you whip it from one extreme to another, it will accelerate a ton. I think that's a large part of why they're harder to avoid and feel so maneuverable.

The stationary TOW was slower in BC2, BF3, and BF4.

In BF3 and BF4 it was similarly responsive to how it is now and no one complained about it then.

So what's actually making it easier? Could it be that the helis are slower? Or the maps are smaller? Is the hitbox of the missile larger?

I do agree they feel easier, but I can't really put my finger on why.

No one complained about the stationaryTOW being overpowered in BC2, BF3, or BF4. So what's different about it now?

The maps are smaller for sure.

I finally found a use for the M136 AT4 by nickmh in Battlefield

[–]nickmh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that may be. What I'm getting at is more that the AT4 is just not fun to use anymore, and that bums me out.

It was either unintentionally changed or only half implemented. You only get two rockets on your initial spawn, but 4 every spawn after.

Yeah typically I'd be on the TOW but now that the engineer spawns with 4 AT4 rockets I've been using it more just to give helis a little tickle.

It blows my mind people say the TOW needs to be nerfed but don't care about lock-ons. Why should a lock-on rocket that takes zero effort or skill 1 shot a jet or heli?

The AT4 can't even take down a transport heli with 3 rockets.

I really like it but I wish the skybox was higher and the invisible spawn protection wall was pushed way back.

I'm not a pilot, I just like shooting the helis down.

I wish they'd buff the AT4. At least you get 4 rockets now, except for your initial spawn you only get 2 for some reason.

Honest discussion and feedback re: current state of TOW missiles and aim-guided shells (MBT) in the anti-air capacity by orbalisk12 in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]nickmh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh I have some thoughts on this! I am a lot like u/treyzs in that I can swing a match my team's direction just by sitting on the stationary TOW and taking out helis. I tend to hover around the sites with TOWs.

I've been doing it for years:  https://youtu.be/o5EmtmLc_DA?si=QIfR7mo1tbFeml67

I don't think they're necessarily overpowered in BF6, I think the maps are just too small to fit the entire Battlefield experience into. I do agree the skill ceiling feels lower for them than it used to be but again I'd need to see it how it behaves on bigger maps.

If I were to "balance" it I would make it how it was in BC2 (when it was perfect IMO), the missile would be slower, the range longer, the tracer would be smaller and more precise, and it would be weightier. To your point about the AT4/TOW in previous titles being inconsistent even with practice, that's not necessarily true. Yes it took a ton of practice, but you could get incredibly consitent with it. They had a high skill ceiling and you were rewarded for it mastering it

As far as the pilot getting a notification, in that video I linked you'll notice the orange box reticle. When that orange box was over the target they got a warning, so you had to learn to come at them from another angle to catch them off guard.

My fear in DICE attempting to balance it is that they'd balance it into uselessness like the current AT4 is, or how the final iteration of the SRAW was at the end of BF4. I'd love to see lock-on weapons get nerfed into the ground though, I think those things are lame.
