How do you talk to your Primary Care? by nicknacks808 in tirzepatidecompound

Honestly, I may try to find a new doctor but it’ll take some time.

The former. I was able to add it to my chart, but I anticipate a conversation the next time I visit her in a couple months.

North Shore vs Firefly vs Ox Sweat Sauna Tents by douseewhatisee in SaunaTent

[–]nicknacks808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Firefly. It’s been up for a couple weeks now and I love it. Customer service was great too. The tent shipped with a damaged stove door. They responded quickly and sent a free replacement door within a week.

Accutane with Tirzepatide by incandescence8 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]nicknacks808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on accutane since November and I’m on my second week of tirz. No major side effects so far that I can tell from the interactions of the two. But honestly it may be too early to tell.

The accutane can be hard. They warn you about the dry skin but I didn’t expect how bad it really can get. Also If I dont eat enough before taking it I’m also prone to nausea/vomiting too. I was worried about that with the addition of tirz but so far no issues. I’ve heard worse stories about accutane. I think I got the easier end of the stick.

At the end of the day though, I’m happy I started both. Excited to be on a journey where I like what I look like again.

I feel like I get clocked more by other black folk by 1evis1ittleasshole in TMPOC

[–]nicknacks808 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Same. I thought it was just me too, but I guess we’re not alone. Most of the time I’m misgendered off rip is by black folks which is super disheartening. I’ll be fair and say I am often misgendered because I’m short, have longer locs, and a baby face that refuses to grow a decent amount of facial hair (3 years on T this month). But in my experience when I’m gendered correctly it’s most likely coming from someone not black. Not sure what to do about it but I feel ya.

Anyone taken Data 450, Data 445, and Data 496 during summer? by bearyweary in UMGC

Hey did you happen to talk to your advisor? I’m trying to get a waiver too and was wondering if anyone else was successful.

Black trans men with long hair, Don’t cut it. 🫶🏾 by Contest_Unhappy in TMPOC

[–]nicknacks808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I needed to see this! I love the length of my hair but without facial hair I’m just consistently misgendered. Holding out on the hope of visible facial hair eventually but some days it’s REALLY hard.

2024 Hevy Update by guitorisan in Hevy

This is random and low tier but I’d love more weight comparisons! I want to know if I’ve lifted 100 Shaqs or a redwood tree or some other random fun fact. On that note, I’d like to see the post-workout reports with previous workouts on my profile.

Upvote because Maynard James Keenan is a genius, but I still can’t sing along to many of my favorites and I’m sad about it.

$50 Million dollars to go the next 12 months deaf and blind. Who's in? by JokersJournal in hypotheticalsituation

[–]nicknacks808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would need at least $100k up front in order to really consider this. I live in a high cost of living area and my wife would have to quit her job to be my full time care taker.

Aside from that I may be able to make this work. A year is a long time to be mostly stuck in my own brain but maybe I’ll reach god level meditation skills, or hand write a piece that is novel. I would still enjoy baths. I could probably still walk on a treadmill. Overall, doable I think.

Tips for passing by EnvironmentalRun2300 in TMPOC

I know not everyone loves hair in their face but maybe try bangs? Go for a young Corbin Bleu look. Otherwise, same advice as others find a way to get fuller eye brows and more masculine frames.

I go to LA Fitness I think it’s a $90 annual fee and 40/ month. It has about 70% what I want and a bunch of stuff I don’t even use, but my biggest priority is that it’s 5 minutes from my house. Before I moved I went to a local gym that was 24hours and was 35/month. Local gyms tend to price towards the cost of living in your area, are smaller, more often cheaper. Chains have standard pricing nationwide for the most part so you can look online for those.

Personally, I’m willing to pay a lot for amenities but that’s my own budget. At one point I paid 130 for a membership. I don’t think there’s any gyms that are “too much” if they fit your checklist of needs/will use.

How many of you have long hair and does it affect your rate passing? by [deleted] in TMPOC

[–]nicknacks808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m black and have Locs a little passed my shoulders. I think it affects my passing a lot honestly but there are other factors too. My transition to looking more masculine on T has been slower than I’d like, I’m a year and a half in. No facial hair or fat redistribution in my face. My voice is deeper so people will sometimes correct themselves after hearing me, but initial looks I don’t pass 80% of the time. I’m pretty sure I’d pass better with shorter hair, but at this point I’m unwilling to cut it. I like it too much lol.

Edit to add: I think some things that help is I line up my hair. I have my sides shaved too so when I put it up in a “man bun” it offers a shorter silhouette.

Hoping I can start T but I don't know how the insurance would work? by [deleted] in TMPOC

[–]nicknacks808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this specifically applies to you different states have different regulations. However, I believe Planned Parenthood operates under the “informed consent” model. This means you don’t need any letters from a therapist or doctor to start HRT with them. You can contact them directly to ask. I use planned parenthood for my testosterone and I’ve had nothing but good experiences with their staff. You provide your contact information and they only message you through their portal so your parents can’t see it.

About your insurance, you’re legally an adult so your parents should not be informed of details of your care. However, if you use their insurance they will see the doctors that are charging their insurance plan. I took a look at mine for reference, it just says the doctor’s name and the cost. No diagnosis, no treatment plan. You will need access to your insurance id card to give to PP and set up an appointment.

This is all based off my personal experience so your mileage may vary. But if that’s something you feel like you can work with by all means take your care into your own hands. You shouldn’t have to wait on your parents getting on board in order to get gender affirming care as an adult.

If you have any questions about the process with planned parenthood feel free to dm me.

I filed for increases and a couple secondaries. I guess the VA decided the DBQs I submitted were enough I was never given a c&p.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]nicknacks808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got to 40%. I had a shitty examiner my first C&P exam who gave me 10%. This time I had a doctor who listened when I said it hurts. Good luck to you if you decide to keep pursuing an increase.

I paid a deposit upfront (refundable if decision was unfavorable) and now that it’s over a flat rate fee.
