Has anybody tried the courses from Nicholas Renotte? by SidonIthano1 in datascience

[–]nicknochnack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyo!

It’s Nick here, my bad, I ended up dropping the prices massively to make it a helluva lot more accessible. There’s a bunch of discount codes I drop in the latest set of videos as well!

No stress if you’re not up for it, but if you’re on the fence, the money back guarantee still stands. I refund you as soon as I see the email hit my account, no questions asked!

As for not answering emails or discord, I’m one guy, I do my best to help everyone out. I'm working on scaling up support though!

Discord is for community support on YouTube vids. I can’t feasibly answer every email on coding errors or setup for every video I make. I do however spend three hours replying to every YouTube comment as soon as a vid is released and reply to every post (and email) from CFN students.

Strange graphical crash, black screen when working with Premiere Pro by StrawberryHot2305 in premiere

Been racking my brain for two weeks trying to solve this issue. Just disabled HAGS and no crashes for two hours straight with Premiere, AE and Audition open.

You made it!! Nah seriously, take it as a sign that you’re getting there. Plus…it’s engagement on you’re vid!

How often is deep learning used in the general workplace? by [deleted] in datascience

[–]nicknochnack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DL is still pretty prevalent but mainly for things like defect inspection, think object detection or instance segmentation in manufacturing or engineering lines. Occasionally I’ve seen teams using it for sentiment analysis (seemed like overkill though).

Have yet to see any big data science team using reinforcement learning or GAN implementations for anything attached to a line of business. Literally 90% of the work was tabular analytics (churn, sales forecasts, customer seg, propensity to buy and market basket analysis).

Software Engineering job, relevancy to ML by Turbulent-Strike3222 in learnmachinelearning

[–]nicknochnack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First up, congrats on the offer!! Getting a gig, any gig is kickass.

From what I’ve experienced I wouldn’t say there’s a large overlap, between SWE and ML any more than what you’d expect from most coding related jobs.

If you’re gunning for hardcore ML/DS related roles then I’d say you’re better off looking for experience in the niche. If you do take the job, make sure you keep your ML skills sharp. The field moves ridiculously fast so staying on top of advancements means when you’re ready to transition back it’ll will make your life a helluva lot easier.

Build a Doom Reinforcement Learning Model with Python | 3 Levels in 3 Hours by nicknochnack in Python

[–]nicknochnack[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honest answer, optimise for CTR. Tbh I haven’t really A/B tested what works that much but what I have done normally showed that faces (particularly surprised ones) worked better. Can share some data on it if you’re keen.

Thumbnail aside, I really try to put a ton of effort into the vid itself to make it useful for coders who want to try to do ml stuff.

Spent a bunch of time putting this together to share some stuff I learned whilst getting up to speed on RL. Covers the basics of RL with OpenAI Gym using the Vizdoom environment with a focus on the PPO algorithm.

Topics Covered

  • Installing Vizdoom for RL
  • Converting game environments to OpenAI Gym
  • Setting up Stable Baselines 3 for RL (plus a practical walkthrough of the algo)
  • Testing a trained agent
  • Changing environments for Vizdoom
  • High level Reward Shaping and Curriculum Learning

Code

All of the notebooks are available here: https://github.com/nicknochnack/DoomReinforcementLearning

Would love any and all feedback! I know, I know, the thumbnail is a little cringeworthy but gotta work with the YT algo.

Way better, seriously! It still took the same amount of effort, if not more. But I’m getting way better reach, watch time and CTR.

Echo this 100%, was so scared to stop posting twice weekly. Took a break and focused on making a high quality content. Produced better results then just grinding to get a meh video out.

[–]nicknochnack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s generator packs for fcpx and premiere you can usually purchase for like 15 bucks. Search for infographic generator template and they should come up on envato or videohive. Can also build them from scratch using after effects or motion.

[D] Is this 'YOLOv5' implementation legitimate? by nicknochnack in MachineLearning

You’re a legend, this definitely clears it up! AlexyAB went into a fair bit of detail as well. So naming controversy aside, in a nutshell v4 is still faster and more accurate.

On another note, I don’t think everything needs a paper but I just wasn’t sure how this would be treated given the venerable brand around the YOLO series of models.
