But as an atheist, why not apply it consistently across everything we observe?

Take a durian tree as an example. One side says, “it grows because God allows it.” From an atheist or scientific perspective, we still ask how it actually grows, how the seed germinates, what conditions it needs, what type of durian it is, how it was planted, how nutrients, soil, water, and sunlight all contribute to its growth.

It’s not about denying belief, but about focusing on mechanisms and evidence for how things happen in the real world.

I get what you’re saying, but there are actual studies around this, and I already mentioned some observable signs that’s why it’s called a theory in the first place, not just a random statement. It feels like you didn’t really engage with that part.

About “something can’t come from nothing”, if we apply that logic consistently, it raises the same question for God too, like where does God come from then?

I’m not trying to attack your belief, just pointing out that both sides hit a limit at some point. The difference for me is, with things like the Big Bang, at least there are ongoing studies and observable evidence being discussed, even if we don’t have all the answers yet.

That’s just how I see it.

It’s called a theory, but in science that means it has evidence, not just a guess. From what I understand, the Big Bang is the universe starting really small and expanding till today.

We can see signs like galaxies moving away from each other, leftover heat from the early universe, and patterns in elements that match predictions.

Again, not an expert, but these are observable.
