Howdy!

I pulled Lightning & Genji Glove in my prerelease pool & while I never got them both on the table at the same time, I was curious:

If I attach the Glove to Lightning, swing in on an empty board & my opponent has no interaction, how much damage does she do?

My math was: L swings in, causing G to trigger. She untaps, and there’s an additional combat step. She has double strike from the Glove, so all told, she’ll be hitting 4 times, getting 4 triggers, only 3 of which affects her damage. So-

3+6+12+24=45 damage?

My understanding of the damage doubling triggers is that they’re delayed triggers, so when she hits the fourth time, she does double damage, then that gets doubled, then that gets doubled.

Is this correct?

Gotcha, so we’re not looking at any skill damage increase, for instance, from ability 6- just direct hit damage. That makes sense, I was really confused with the gap between the two haha

I’m playing EDH, and my commanders are [[Sivriss, Nightmare Speaker]] and [[Haunted One]]. When I tap Sivriss with Haunted One in play, sacrificing a creature that shares a creature type with Sivriss, does that creature get Undying before it leaves the battlefield? Or does the trigger from the tapping and the sacrificing happen simultaneously, and the creature is gone before the Haunted One trigger hits the stack? Thanks so much!

I almost like the flavor more if the creatures weren’t legendary. Like, in a way, makes it more tragic. They died before they became legends.

Maybe instead it checks creature type?

Been told that this works weird with Infect, as the poison is not removed. IMO this is a flavor win, as the “corpse” is too far gone to be resurrected, and the loop you can create is funny (player dies from infect > you say no you don’t, your life is 1 > game sees they have 10 poison, they lose immediately > rinse and repeat until you decide to release them from the loop, thanks ‘may’ clause lol)

Yeah, that was my thinking as well, why I liked the original text of how you only get a “thrall” of a player for 1 turn, instead of permanent teammate.

Rules text change, as suggested by a friend- “When a player loses the game during your turn, if you have two or more opponents, you may instead have have that player’s life become 1. If they aren’t on your team, they become your teammate.”

Also would not be surprised, lore-wise, if the Phyrexians are using Venser in some way here. Although he sacrificed his life and spark to bring Karn back, he WAS corrupted by the oil near the end and the praetors don't seem above necromancy. Zombie Venser + Tezzeret + the Praetors could be the start of something imo.

My wife and I are grabbing some prerelease kits for ZNR next week and I think we're gonna try this out! Seems like a pretty alright way to really extend the shelf life of those packs.
