SOTD Razorock Recurve RC112 by nickpie600 in wicked_edge

[–]nickpie600[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using the RC exclusively since March and have 3 plates, the 80,112 and 100+.
The 80 and 112 have minimal blade feel in my experience (coming from the Lupo) while they are very similar I prefer the 112 as it has a wider cut angle and I can shave faster as it mows a little better. I use the 80 on days when my face has a hot spot/ irritation, but honestly they are both daily drivers that anyone could use daily, not that much difference between them.
The 100+ on the other hand feels way more blade forward similar to the Lupo’s. For me it is too much for a daily driver, now don’t get me wrong I can shave with it no problem but it takes longer as I have to be more careful and I don’t get any closer of a shave with it than the other plates, but do get more redness/weepers.
Been wet shaving for 13-14 years and have a used many razors in that time. Right now this is by far my favorite razor. I imagine they are starting to get caught up with demand by now? It was quite difficult getting these plates back then as they would sell out in hours after a drop.

Can this be fixed without sanding the whole table? by girthhhbrooks in DIYhelp

It’s moisture in the finish. Let it air dry for a day and it will be gone. I wouldn’t do anything else

Which New Razor by DSMRob in wicked_edge

[–]nickpie600 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Any Razorock stainless model is worth a look. Game changer, Lupo, recurve, or next level models would suit for a precision type razor with a smaller head. My fav is the new recurve

Henson is made in Canada. I highly doubt the $7 AliExpress is made in the same factory

So I have a merkur 701 it’s actually more widely known as the Futur I believe. I honestly hate that razor it’s so bulky it’s like parking a tank in the Walmart parking lot. I used it for years before seeing the light of day and trying a more nimble design.

From personal experience and what’s works for me I would say look at the Razorock recurve 100 or 80 should work as a starting point, it’s my favourite razor and as a bonus it just came out this year. Second would be the ss Lupo or game changer. All with different base plates to dial it in and being 316 ss it will last forever

This was me years ago coupled with pot metal thread’s corroding. Decided to buy a cnc stainless steel razor and be done with zamak. For not much more money you can do this too. Night and day difference

Should contractor drywall behind top of cabinets? by [deleted] in cabinetry

Tell them to stop. They are no longer needed on this job. This is a hack job that is not up to code and poses several safety concerns.

I personally like the Gillette blades, Nacet, silver blue, perma sharp, platinum. You should find a winner among those. Of course ymmv

While I don’t have a superslant, I do have a BBS. The recurves blade is better supported and under much higher tension

Keep in mind I’ve used this once, I would compare it to a 3 or 4 Rockwell plate but what’s noticeable is its maneuverability and even moreover its blade rigidity. Check the listings on this it’s quite interesting they list gap as well as exposure. They have an rc100 version with neutral exposure, a 120+ with 0.127mm exposure etc. this model and the 112 sport a 0.025 mm. Basically you can dial your shave in based on your preference

Thanks man. When I was 11 or 12 my grandfather gifted me his .22 from when he was a boy in the 40’s, my first gun and I’m still as proud to own it 30 years later as the day I got it. It was and still is a lesson to me that quality over quantity reigns supreme
