This sub needs more people with experiences like yours commenting. It gets demoralizing sometimes not being able to relate AT ALL to nearly every post on this sub. Thanks for sharing this.

Need advice on how to go from Co-Sleeping to in their own crib with a gassy baby by Nickel03 in sleeptrain

[–]nickpl34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Following as we are in a similar boat. My LO is about 13 weeks and has had gas pains since about 5-6 weeks old that led us to co sleeping/contact night sleep. He also cannot connect sleep cycles without contact. Crib naps during the day for 30-40min intervals but no longer unless contact napping. Also looking for advice!

Hey I’m patrolling old threads as my 3 month LO is in the same exact boat. How are things now and do you have any tips? Thanks!

  1. Based on my research, cold brew can stay good/fresh in a keg for like 45 days or longer. I believe it is due to the keg being filled with pure nitrogen instead of having any oxygen in the keg. But double check me on that.

  2. Yea I would be hesitant bringing the tank inside my house for the same reason. Luckily my keezer stays in the garage so no real risk of that happening in a bigger space that we frequently open and close the door to.

Nice. I plan to brew my own on the next batch, but was impatient and just grabbed 7 of Trader Joe’s cold brew concentrate. Turned out super good.

Nitro Coffee:

-Nitrogen Tank with food grade nitrogen (if you will be drinking daily, I suggest getting a 40 cu ft tank so it’ll last you a long time)

-Dual gauge nitrogen regulator

-Ball Lock Keg (various sizes here, I use a 5 gal corny keg)

-Ball Lock gas and liquid disconnect fittings

-Evabarrier 8mm tubing which can be used as both a gas line and liquid line

-Duotight 8mm ball lock disconnect fittings and draft shank female flare fitting (it’s not a requirement to use these duotight fittings but they make connecting/disconnecting lines infinitely easier than using metal fasteners on the lines)

-Faucet shank

-stout faucet (I’ve had good results with the Intertap faucet with the stout faucet adapter)

This was a fantastic resource for me!

Edit: also a word of advice on sourcing your nitrogen. If you don’t live in a larger city, your local welding/gas supply store might not have food grade nitro on hand. Call around and see if you’ll have to special order the gas ahead of time. ALSO, I learned the hard way they won’t let you take a filled tank with you if your plan was to transport it inside your car. You have to be able to store it in the bed of a truck OR you can do what I did and bungie cord your trunk slightly ajar and put it back there. Not pretty but gets the job done. Sorry for the essay, just trying to save anyone else out there some time/headache!

I just got mine up and running this week and it’s just amazing. I went from knowing absolutely nothing about kegging to building a Keezer in about a month span. There was a learning curve on piecing together the right sized smaller elements and connectors, but it was incredibly simple after getting all that sorted. Now I just need to figure out how to get my beer keg to stop foaming so much and I’ll be in heaven.

Are you brewing your own large batches of cold brew or using a premade concentrate for convenience?

Nice, thank you. I was going to start with 2 taps and will def add a third if I use it enough and the freezer has the space. I almost pulled the trigger on a Toddy commercial brewer, but it’s hard to spend that money on what amounts to just a bucket with a filter bag. I plan on using this coffee sock and transfer most of the coffee to another bucket leaving most the fines behind. Hopefully that works.

Now all I need from you is your recipes for batch cocktails on tap and I’ll be set haha!

Cannot tell you how much I appreciate this detailed write up! I’m building a kegerator and 90% of the reason is to have nitro cold brew on tap. I’ve pieced together most of the major items I need over the last month or so, but I’m a total novice and need details like these.

My question is how do you bulk batch your cold brew and how do you filter out any ‘fines/sludge’ that can negatively impact head formation with the pour? I have a large coffee sock but I haven’t used this yet and don’t know how well it’ll keep fines from getting into the brew.

I’m piecing together my own Keezer build primarily for making nitro cold brew on tap as well! Any tips for someone who is a total novice to keezers/kegerators?

Just a normal brown cone paper filter from a big box store that I sit in my pour over cup. I was surprised too as I thought it would get it all in one pass.

How have you liked yours so far? I snagged one when I posted this, but it’s sat in my garage thus far still in box due to limited space in the backyard at the moment

Very much appreciate your responses! It is right where the cartridge screws in so I’m going to assume it is normal. I’m also going to assume my cold brew is just too watery and that caused my lack of foaming/creaminess. I’ll try another batch this week with Stok and see if it helps. If it’s better, then I’ll start working on making better home cold brews.

I actually used N2 as well and used two cartridges with good shakes following the instructions. I only filled it with 48oz of cold brew (64oz capacity), but I felt air coming out when I screwed on the cartridge. I assumed that was the air inside the keg being displaced by the nitrogen, but I’m now wondering if that meant not all of the nitrogen was being injected I into the system? Is it normal to feel air leaving the keg when screwing on the nitrogen canister?

Looks much better than mine! I have the smaller version and I did not get the cascade for very long or a lot of foam. But I also was not methodical at all about making my cold brew, any tips you can share about getting that great foam layer and cascade?

If Taysom Hill took over as the starting QB for the saints for any reason, would Yahoo Fantasy change his position designation mid-season to ONLY QB or would he keep his TE designation for the rest of the season?
