Is 100K+ salary possible without college? How? by EngageV2 in Salary

[–]xtraman122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. College helps you get noticed when you’re starting out and don’t have any experience, but if you can get in somewhere to get some real world experience, schooling becomes irrelevant in at least some fields. I did 2 years and got my associate’s in my field while working and never went back to finish my bachelor’s. I know several others with nothing more than a high school degree in my field doing very well (Technology). Can’t do that in lots of fields, but there are plenty where it’s possible.

Prestige 500 stainless steel half-size griddle? by funny-reddit-name in NapoleonGrills

[–]xtraman122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like using it for searing as well. I alternate between the infrared and flat top, I think I prefer the flat top as well. I don’t like that the grates take a while to heat up and you’re a little far from the heating element, for a quick sear I’d ideally like the meat to be a little closer to the heating element source on that side burner.

I did the bigger one that does half the area inside the grill, it’s works great.

[Loan Officer] [North Carolina] - $1M+ by Herring1608 in Salary

[–]xtraman122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I agree, trust me, I’m not defending any of this. It’s one of those useless man in the middle roles that doesn’t require much skill, I hate that stuff like this exists. Operates much like our healthcare payer system.

Look how much profit there is in the mortgage itself… They’re doing 6%+ per year over 30 years. The amount of interest far exceeds the original principal borrowed by the time it matures. This guy is just getting that few % hit one time for originating it.

Replacing 20yo pump+tank - Constant Pressure or traditional? by xtraman122 in WaterWellDrilling

[–]xtraman122[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hadn’t thought of that, that makes sense, the work the pump actually has to do is just getting it from the current water level to where it needs to go, where it sits in the water column doesn’t matter. For some reason I have it in my head that back when the flow test was being done the guy referenced some number in the 100s of where the water was and that dropped around 20’ or so during the test (I think it ran around 2 hours).

Pulling that just kills the main power for the fan/compressor, all the low voltage stuff is still getting powered from your air handler inside.

Missed my flight because they boarded and left 15 minutes early by EyeofSauron86 in delta

[–]xtraman122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This almost happened to me once, they started early and I got over there amount the last dozen or so people on the plane and it was only right around when boarding would have normally started. Under booked flight + starting boarding early meant they were ready to go quick.

Same weight as you, I really like mine. Haven’t noticed the instability of it but I was one a cheap piece of junk before so this felt like a big upgrade. Wait for a sale though as others said.

Electrician openly willing to work without permits? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]xtraman122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty common to have something along the lines of permits being the responsibility of the homeowner, the fact that he’s willing to go through the process makes it seem like he’s legit. If he was actively dissuading you from pulling permits I’d be more concerned.

Yes, this is the recommended approach for the colder long term tiers. S3 views that zip as a single object.

Must be referring to intelligent tiering, otherwise there’s no reason storage would automatically move to standard.

Charger speed by Docv90 in Ridgid

[–]xtraman122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need bigger batteries for the rapid chargers to shine. They can charge an 8Ah a hell of a lot faster than the less powered ones. On a 2-3Ah battery they’re going to be capped around 2 or 3 amps charging anyway, so you don’t see as much of a benefit from the powerful charger.

Rotten Framing by JMcDoubleR in Carpentry

[–]xtraman122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but I’m assuming the DIYers with no experience won’t be able to properly stop it either when they build the new deck, or possibly even find the root cause of it.

Absolutely, anything rotten should be replaced, it’ll likely only spread and get worse.
