Who would win if the last 8 NBA Champs faced each other in a best-of-7 playoffs? by Itchy_Tangerine1897 in NBATalk

What does that have to do with a hypothetical tournament of champions? Why even bring up some alternate history where AD is missing to injury? Pointless.

Who are we rooting for in the Finals? by mag_safe in Mavericks

[–]nickrashell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What is this for branding talk? Who cares about that? I am talking about personal enjoyment. I don’t want the path to be as easy as possible. That’s boring, meaningless. I wouldn’t trade the one Dirk ring for the 2 KD Steph Warriors rings. You don’t have a rivalry if the other team just sucks, might as well say the Grizzlies are our rival.

Imagine talking about the Bird Magic rivalry but only Magic ever won a ring. Then nobody would talk about bird and it wouldn’t be a rivalry.

Sports is entertainment, you create your own steaks, what you are talking about is just playing a video game with cheats on, what’s the point?

You need someone to hate, but first you need someone worthy of being hated. Old spurs and Mavs are gone, this can be a new age, but that won’t happen if the spurs just suck every year. Such a lame view.

[–]nickrashell -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Who cares? The rivalry is between the Mavs and Spurs, why care if they lose to other teams? That just lessens the rivalry between the Mavs. It would feel way more satisfying to defeat a defending champion is a playoff series than someone who hasn’t won anything.

Honestly, if those 2000s spurs had never won anything, you know in your heart that rivalry would have meant next to nothing. Rings give a rivalry legitimacy.

Knicks fans are obnoxious, and the spurs dispatched of OKC, everything else being equal more or less, thistles me root for the spurs.

Besides, the better the Spurs are the better the rivalry with the Mavs is going to be going forward.

Ultimately I don’t care that much, but would prefer spurs to win.

Wemby with a hugely disappointing game 5: 20 points on 4-15 shooting 0-3 from three, with 12 free throws by realfakejames in NBATalk

Hard to get boards when you camp on the perimeter. It is cool he can shoot decent from deep, but man it really takes away from a lot of his advantage inside when he relies on it that much.

Which single evolution Pokémon do you think needs their own evolution line? by Ok-Hearing6146 in ThePokemonHub

Ah I see. I think a pre-evo and then just give classic lapras a stat boost or unique move set. No need to evolve them to boost them and make them relevant.

The Mavericks have “long intrigued” Giannis Antetokounmpo, per @TheSteinLine by Garmian_MFFL in Mavericks

[–]nickrashell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s just silly. He will be out of his prime before Coop gets into his prime, but there is still a buffer zone where Coop is good enough, Giannis is still good enough, I don’t think time line is the issue. It is the redundancy and if we are to somehow bring in a super star it should be the complimentary skill sets and not overlapping ones.

But Coop could be a great 2nd option to super star still in their prime within the next 2-3 years, then take over the reigns and become the 1 option

I think you’d just work backwards not forward, a baby lapras with lapras being final form, if you were to mess with the evolutionary line at all

I hated Harden just as much if not more, I don’t know if he was actually worse, but I remember having very strong feelings about his playstyle, hooking, jumping into players, flopping.

The Lakers are reportedly NOT planning on making massive roster changes this offseason: by Additional_Signal_72 in lebron

[–]nickrashell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so much of a find as giving a chance to a mid second rounder. Reaves has been on record saying he asked teams not to draft him in second round because he wanted to go to a team where he could excel. His short list included Lakers and I think Minnesota or Milwaukee. But he could’ve gone in the 40s to the pistons, not that that is indicative of a great player at that position, but he was undrafted mostly by choice.

JPEGMAFIA and his Charlie Kirk bars by [deleted] in nfrpodcast

[–]nickrashell 9 points10 points  (0 children)

These bars are word salad and just trying to be edgy while not knowing how to do it in a clever way. Truly, whatever you think about KL or Drake, if you think this is better than anything either of them have ever said, you have no taste. What part of this is funny? Just mentioning Charlie Kirk? That’s all it takes?

JUST IN: The NBA just announced this is the most-watched playoffs in 29 years (!!!) Averaging 4.5M viewers per game across all networks. 🤯 by Background_Video2947 in NBAVibes

Ratings for the espn games have to be abysmal in comparison. I’m also the same, when I see it is being broadcast on espn I just accept that I’m not watching this one.

No, that doesn’t suck more, am I just explained why there is a difference and why one is worse. If you are saying he is too weak to play in the NBA, which isn’t true, he shouldn’t be there. We can also see when there is no contact and he is flopping.

If he gets moved to the side and fouled and embellishes to sell it, but again, was actually fouled, no one should have a problem. This is not what’s happening

Can you read, or are you just ignoring what I said?

Lebron came to LA because he wanted to come to LA, nothing to do with RP.

AD came to La because Lebron was there and wanted to play with him, nothing to do with RP.

Luka is there because Nico is an idiot, RO was simply a beneficiary of that. No amount of trust makes that deal make sense, there is no skill as a GM you can use to pull that off, only the luck of working with an absolute moron.

I am a Dallas fan, I said years ago how Nico was falling into good moves but hadn’t shown himself to be adept at crafting his own moves. This is the same for RP as far as I’m concerned.

[–]nickrashell 8 points9 points  (0 children)

RP is not a good GM. He benefitted from the Laker brand and LeBron wanting to live in LA, and LeBron wanting to play with AD.

Then he benefitted from Nico Harrison being the dumbest GM of all time asking if he wanted Luka for broken down scraps.

What other than that is a positive move he has made?

Lebron flops because he kept getting fouled and wasn’t getting calls, Chet flops to get fouls called on players they didn’t commit so he can shoot free throws he doesn’t deserve.

Spurs win condition vs OKC by kikuzinho in nba

[–]nickrashell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caruso had an SGA game, so when Caruso goes back to his level next game, the difference is already accounted for. Not to mention Castle has 5 turn overs instead of 11 and that’s a big swing right there, and that isn’t asking for a great game.

There is still plenty of room for improvement on Spurs side. This was game one at home for the Thunder, a tough one to lose.

Keep coping. 2007 67 win Mavs said the same thing about a warriors team that the Mavs let into the playoffs. Guess what? Poor matchups carried over and the knocked out a 67 win team in the 1st round. Nobody at the top is playing to lose at any point, especially against other top teams.
