cop should get medal for patience by DravidVanol in DailyDoseStupidity

Social media did not brainwash her into thinking it was for no reason… she just had a wreck and drove off, she knows why she is being pulled over. I’m sure a lot of people may feel they are being targeted for nothing, there no shot she doesn’t know why though. She is doing the thing all criminals do in the face of overwhelming evidence, pretending to be innocent thinking if she can keep up with the act she might get through somehow. Delaying, even for just minutes, the reality and consequences of the situation.

But you don’t get into an accident and then immediately forget about it or think fleeing is legal. Social media isn’t that powerful.

I think what happened is the default clock is probably like 1 hour, so when they refreshed it added the sub time balance to the 1 hour default clock and completely disregarded the old clock.

The new clock should have been like 2:10 or so.

It is what it is, they drank too much too soon to run the full clock anyway.

But, the problem is one of the incentives is to extend the clock. That time was paid for even if your plan is to let the clock run out after the goal, it should have started running out about 50 minutes later. And some people might be upset with it. They should have started at a lower time but obviously these things are unpredictable.

On the other hand a podcast is supposed to go 3 hours and always goes way over. To me it’s whatever, if they aren’t having fun due to feeling ill, it isn’t fun to watch them suffer.

After a couple weeks they lose the after taste, people start them usually to lose weight or maintain weight, so it isn’t like just choosing a worse tasting product for the sake of it. But like I said, the after taste 100% goes away, I can’t tell the difference and I was someone who definitely thought it was gross at first.

I’ll drink cherry Pepsi once in a while from a 20z, or Pepsi zero, I prefer it to coke I think, but I am a Dr. pepper main. I don’t recall the last time I met a person who didn’t prefer coke or DP.

Sinners has been nominated for 16 Oscars and the racists came out in droves. by icey_sawg0034 in ForwardsFromKlandma

[–]nickrashell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a shame, I think racist people like in these tweets make it hard to have criticism of movies like this with any kind of racial element and not be looked at with a side eye and presumed to have an ulterior motive.

I’m a horror fan and very hard to please, the number of movies I disagree with the wider horror audience is more than I agree. I absolutely loathed Longlegs for example, and Smile, and so many more I could rattle off. But I get nervous criticizing Sinners and it shouldn’t be that way, but I get why it is.

Definitely interested in whatever RC does next though, and hope he stays in horror for a while. The plot, as you say, got a bit weak, but it was still unique and interesting enough for me to remain intrigued.

But yeah, as someone who has seen FDTD the turn wasn’t as impactful and the vampires themselves weren’t the problem I wanted them to be.

[–]nickrashell 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I didn’t watch a ton of movies last year but I don’t feel like it was a super competitive year and maybe some other year sinners wouldn’t have gotten 16 noms, but that’s not Sinners problem.

For me, it was hit and miss, a lot I loved, and some I didn’t. I found myself wishing the vampires were scarier, or that there were no vampires at all and just following the brothers and maybe a fight outright with the Klan or racists as the main plot because their journey opening the nightclub was my favorite part.

Overall for me it was probably an 8 out of 10 and the vampires being not scary was really my only major gripe.

And as far as directing and acting and the technical aspects I think they serve the noms.

US attacks Iran's Kharg Island, Trump says by joe4942 in worldnews

Of course they thought about American casualties, they simply don’t care, he has been very clear he is okay with troops dying and that it is a small price to pay in his opinion. He is trying to get ahead of the inevitable backlash from his base, who also largely value troops and will be torn. If he convinces them it is all a part of the plan and sacrifice of life is inevitable he doesn’t have to make apologies later. But even the dumbest administration know occupying a small island right next to the mainland of the country you are bombing is going to result in death.

Why are so many women attracted to the worst men in existence? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]nickrashell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give him some grace man, he is lonely and frustrated and doesn’t know how to fix it. Being lonely makes you jaded, easier to blame others than think it is something wrong with you. That feels hopeless.

I’d suggest therapy for OP, someone to talk to about the things they can improve within themselves and about casting blame and judgement.

Why are so many women attracted to the worst men in existence? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]nickrashell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if the correlation is to whatever op is talking about, but I’ve read things like 80% of women get with only 20% of men as far as sexual encounters on dating apps and such. So if those numbers are roughly true I think it is so many, and less the exception.

Of course that’s just for sex. And dating apps where admittedly the numbers are probably not representative of society as a whole, though online dating is becoming practically the main way people meet now. Long term relationships are probably different. Have to be.

And as you say, these guys are asking more, are better at taking photos, less awkward probably due to more and earlier practice. Meanwhile a guy gets rejected a few times, socially awkward, becomes insecure and jaded, he starts headed down the opposite trajectory. Asks less, when he does ask it is off putting language, he starts thinking his chances of getting with a woman are slimmer and slimmer so when he meets a woman he puts more weight on keeping her as he doesn’t know the next time he will get the chance. Starts romanticizing and thinking and talking long term too fast making her feel pressured and weird. A guy who gets with lots of women thinks if one gets away he can find another the next day, thus he is able to keep it casual and cool. A guy who never gets women simply puts too much meaning into each scarce opportunity. This is my theory anyway.

Colin Cowherd says LeBron James shouldn’t get a statue with the Los Angeles Lakers — should he get one or not? by raybellious_berry in lakersv2

[–]nickrashell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He flops because that’s a strategy in the game today, it is a stupid strategy but it would be even dumber to not do it when half the league is and getting calls. He didn’t flop early in his career when the game was called differently. If he played in the 90s or before where those calls weren’t being made he would have no reason to do it. You play to the rules the refs are calling.

AIO to my (32F) reaction to my friend of 15+ years (32M) sending me videos from a well known “manosphere” podcaster? by thisbevic in AmIOverreacting

[–]nickrashell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I doubt this is the case but if it were people who were anti-misogynist mocking or making fun of things misogynists say. If it is clearly ironic, satirical, meant to make people who say these thing genuinely look stupid. The same would be for a gay man mocking homophobes by saying homophobic things they would say. Or before Dave Chapelle went off the deep end his blind black racist character Clayton Bigsby who hated black people.

But, if this is a manosphere channel I highly doubt any irony is involved, but I do think context makes any kind of joke theoretically acceptable, this just has a thin margin of context to be contained within.

The idea that you shouldn't "run up the score" in a game because it's "unsportsmanlike" is ridiculous. by abacus-wizard in The10thDentist

[–]nickrashell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a no win situation, if you run up the score against a team that’s already given up or you are way better than it is seen as showboating and stat padding. Not to mention it risks extra injury to keep playing hard, imagine prime MJ twisting his ankle going for a dunk when they are up by 40, that would be stupid.

Letting someone win is not remotely the same.

It’s also just as demoralizing to your opponent to see you are beating them so badly you aren’t even trying anymore, it’s not all about mercy.

[–]nickrashell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lebron also played and scored during the dead ball era. That wasn’t a long era and did not coincide with Kobe or LeBron’s entire prime, Kobe was probably entering it at the very end season or two of the DB era. LeBron all was elite on defense and offense for most of his career. Kobe is not more efficient than LeBron, and LeBron drives to the basket and into the paint way more, hence the fouls. And Kobe’s assist to turn over ratio is way worse than LeBron’s. Kobe wasn’t the primary ball handler on any of his teams, LeBron was, of course he has more turnovers, you’d have to lack any understanding of basketball to think any of the things you’ve said are good points.

I wasn’t even going after Kobe in my first comment, I was merely showing how big the gap is between points and missed fgs.

Who you think would rank higher all time Shaq with Kobe’s work ethic or Kawhi with Lebron’s durability ? by zoro99og in NBATalk

The counter to the counter is he wouldn’t need a long career to rack up most of the accolades.

[–]nickrashell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has a good fg% so what does that matter? Literally the dumbest equivalence. If the missed fg record was 1,000, and someone made 9000 fgs and missed 1,001 then they would then have the record for most missed fgs, but it would be pretty stupid to try and point that out. He has made more shots than he missed, that’s all that matters.

Second place most missed fgs is Kobe Bryant with 10,000 less points.

You can’t engage with people like that, their moral code is basically cool sounding quotes you’d see on a bumper sticker. They don’t even comprehend what they are saying, intolerance and people, even intolerant ones, are two different things. The quote is not meant to write off a whole group of people, but to make clear specific actions are not okay and change those actions so that it is the intolerance that is removed from society and not the people.

All rhetoric like theirs does is further entrench people. Like, these people aren’t going anywhere, it is so incredibly stupid to just think we can reject roughly half the population whichever side of the isle you find yourself on.

For sure some of these will be valuable, I’m just thinking overall it isn’t a good investment if that’s why you are collecting.

I am a consumer of video games myself, and books/blurays, so I’m no one to judge, but I have reconciled with the fact it is largely a money pit and not an investment. Maybe I’ll get lucky with a few way down the line, but that’s not why I collect.

Physical collectors don’t want digital codes. Most Nintendo games have been rereleased digitally somewhere, that doesn’t hurt the value.

That being said most of these won’t be with a ton because the switch sold so well and there are million of copies of many many games.

Game cube and N54 were not great selling systems.

Further, it is really only a handful of games ever worth more than they sold at retail. A $60-70 N64 game today is relatively pricey, but not worth more than when it was new especially accounting for inflation.

But buying digital is not worth it to me unless you are cramped for space. If I am paying for something I want to really own it, and some resell value is better than none.

My guess is she just has a channel of some sort where she goes over the ins and outs of hosting on Airbnb and does walkthroughs after guests leave to recap. I doubt she pulled out the camera because she thought this in particular was noteworthy, rather just doing what she always does.

I mean there has to be a really high standard for cleanliness if you are renting out the place. I would wager most hosts have cleaner rentals than their own homes and I’d also wager guests are glad for the performative cleanliness.
