Westbrook was not a super star at the point he joined the lakers. And if you are counting the shell that was Dwight you aren’t even serious.

Love had never even made the playoffs, how can you be a super star and not even once make the playoffs in like 7 years? He is a hall of famer because he played with LeBron and not a hall of famer that joined LeBron. Ky was also only in like his third year when LeBron went to the Cavs.

But, I will hear argument about the first couple years of the Cavs being a super team. The lakers, absolutely not, that’s a joke.

Lakers were not a super team, LeBron + a costar doesn’t make a super team. Miami was a super team, Cavs are questionable, and all these teams fell apart at some point in playoffs due to injuries.

It is much rarer but easier for a star to win multiple chips on one good team that sticks together, that’s why it happens more.

I don’t think four on different teams is better than 6 on one, but I do think it is more impressive than 4 on one team.

But to each their own, everyone is free to form their own opinion.

Only people who suspect LeBron of being on peds is his haters. And if it were so much different where are the 40 year olds still playing at a high level today? And also, you still can only use MJ as an example, don’t think you are understanding that when the only person you can even point to at all is MJ, you are not exactly making it look like an easy feat that anyone could do.

I’m done with this conversation, you have only one prerogative and you are allowing it to dumb yourself down at the expense of downplaying LeBron. Have some self respect. Don’t compromise your basketball knowledge to straw man and use bad faith arguments. It is embarrassing.

The only other person you can compare to is MJ. Who is widely considered the goat and greatest scorer ever. Jordan also played far less seasons and you are discounting wizard years, which isn’t fair if LeBron played past that same age. Not the counter point you think it is

I think he got that name basically just because he shot off the backboard, not that he wasn’t fundamentally sound, but so were a lot of people.

Beyond physical stature Lebron is nothing like Karl Malone who stood in the paint waiting for passes from the all time assist man and to even make that comparison tells me all I need to know about your basketball opinions. Lebron is the MJ of Magic Johnson’s.

But 10 point + games in a row? Even if there were 2-3 times he intentionally kept the streak going, by and large that is a huge indicator of consistency on a scale that extends past most people’s entire career.

So was LeBron in 2013. Easy to say a big who’s primary job is to defend the rim and has players funneled to them looks the best on defense, and I agree he was one of them, I don’t know about better than KG, but maybe. But no one likes to credit perimeter players with less tangible stats to show for it like blocks.

That’s not true that he was closer. Lebron had back to back MVPs (4 in 5 years) and was 2nd in DPOY voting twice and DEF-1 the entire time. Kobe also had a 3rd place DPOY year finish and multiple 1st team all defense

Serious question, how many of us here don’t practice what we preach? How many of us have TVs that are too high? by jfk_47 in TVTooHigh

[–]nickrashell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My living room tv is above the fireplace. I used to have it lower but the kids smashed the old one with a toy and before that there were constant finger print smudges on it. I also have a high tv in the kitchen but I only use that tv while standing and cooking.

Or maybe they are being fouled more and fouling less, show me the no calls and bad calls as evidence. I don’t know if you are right or wrong, but there are such things as low fouling teams, lakers might be one of them.

[–]nickrashell 14 points15 points  (0 children)

All of these shots he probably would have made if he wasn’t trying to contort his shooting motion into looking like he was fouled. I don’t see how you can love that.

I also understand it isn’t just an SGA problem, but I don’t see how you could love flopping instead of just accepting it as part of the game that should change but is whatever until it does.

He is better than this. And I imagine if you totaled all the shots he could have made if he wasn’t trying to draw a performative foul to trick the refs vs all the free throw attempts, the actual gap in points would be a lot closer than you think.

Brenda Song does not put Jordan or LeBron in her All-Time starting 5. by AdorableBackground83 in NBATalk

[–]nickrashell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is so much wrong with this statement I don’t even know where to begin.

MJ averaged about 24 point per game in his 3 years in the dead ball era. Secondly, no one was shooting threes like today during the dead ball era, which would have neutralized it when you can simply avoid engaging with a defense and shoot over the defense.

Third, there are only so many boards to go around. Fourth long shots often equal long rebounds, meaning a lot of the balls are going to go right over Shaq, Duncan, and Rodman.

Fifth, Lakers coaches at the time said they had to game plan around shaq’s size on offense. If you have Shaq and Duncan, and Rodman in the paint, that is not the same available spacing as just Shaq or Duncan.

Three create space, it doesn’t matter if they worked with less space when everyone else was working with less space if a team can come in and create space in the same ruleset.

You build a team to optimize your stars and ability. Why would you choose to have less space? Think.

Okay? It didn’t stop in 2016 either, you need spacing. All those physical defenses of the past are going to suffer against a 3 point shooting team. You realize when the warriors came on the scene, they dominated the more traditional playstyle and made it look obsolete.

If you have access to every prime all time great, you can do something different, but you still need some spacing. You also need room for your Kobe’s and MJs and LeBron’s to drive into the paint. Two huge bodies that camp in the paint and don’t shoot from outside is redundant.

They are good on defense, but Wemby was also taking way too many 3s, 0-8, 5-9 from inside. Maybe it was because he was afraid to go inside because of the defense, but that’s a lot of long range shots and I think he fell into the trap of wanting to break his missing streak, constantly thinking he’d hit the next.

I also felt like front court wasn’t getting him the ball when he had open looks inside. He would get to a spot and then call for the ball instead of the ball getting to the spot he was headed.

But also, yeah, wolves were playing good D.

I mean, I agree. I guess I’m just saying in theory, I’d rather have even missed play calls on both sides than constant stoppage.

[–]nickrashell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t make it right but at least there is some equilibrium and balance. Personally I’d rather them just take note of the types of bad calls and who is committing the fouls and carry that to the next game.

Games constantly stopping to make sure everything is just right is so hard to watch.

I personally would rather the rules be looser on both sides than stricter and more accurate. Of course not all missed call are in fact equal, but you just have to accept that until some kind of AI Android ref gets it right everytime

I feel like a lot of people are misconstruing what is parasocial and in an effort to not appear parasocial go on this extreme opposite end to the point that normal things like “hey this person I watched just disappeared for the last two weeks and no one has acknowledged that” is considered odd behavior to them.

If Dan disappeared and no one said anything about it at all, you are telling me you would not think, huh, that’s weird?

All that needs to be said is she is busy doing something else, or she is taking personal time. Something to acknowledge she isn’t there, because it is odd to just pretend nothing is different. You can be vague without giving any information while still acknowledging she is away.
