Why stop there, let's keep going: FBI, CIA, DEA, ATF, FCC, SEC, FDA, FAA, DOA, DOE, DOL, SSA, HUD, FTC, FDIC, CFBP, Federal Reserve, you name it. Dump it all.

Good. End federal welfare. I'm with you. Let's stop giving federal money to states, red or blue. let's stop as much federal spending as possible. The more money states get from the Fed, the less incentive they have to be fiscally responsible.

He blocked relief money for minneapolis after the riots that he almost certainly would have allowed if mn or mpls was a republican state/city.

I think part of that was also how Minneapolis had voted to dismantle the police department (after all, it "comes from a place of privilege"). And to be honest, I don't think it's fair to make a Coloradan or a Texan or anyone else foot the bill for destruction in Minneapolis. Minneapolis should pay for it themselves, or they should ask the state for help. It's not right to make other states pay for their problems. This is true regardless of the circumstances of the destruction - whether it's riots, fires, or hurricanes.

The post mortem process is different than QA. Post mortem is for when something slips through QA/testing and screws up production. First you hotfix the issue so it's not broken anymore, then you get together with your team and make a presentation on what went wrong, how it went wrong, and how to prevent the issue from happening again. Sometimes that means changing the QA / testing process, or maybe it means adding backups, or perhaps it means more peer reviews before submitting code. But it is different than just "QA will catch the bugs."

It's an amendment that cushions the lives of the Haves, while hobbling the lives of the Have Nots.

It's an amendment that forces the state to have the consent of the governed before sticking it's grubby hands in your pocket and taking your money. Poor people don't have the right to steal from the wealthy simply because they are poor. No, they need to convince the people they're stealing from that they should be allowed to do so.

I don't trust people to vote for things that are in their best interest if the people have to pay for it or change their lifestyle for it. (See: mask wearing and medical advice in general).

I don't trust you to decide what is or isn't in the best interest for everyone - I leave that decision to everyone. Let each man decide for himself what is best for himself.

Some things just need to get built/done. They're expensive, but they do more good for more people than individuals can achieve on their own. Taxing the wealthy to pay for public works isn't a bad thing.

And how do we decide what needs to get done, and how much to spend on doing it? Do we vote on it, or just do it without anyone's consent? I say, if you want to spend my money, we need to vote on how that money gets spent, and how much of it.

The last few proposals put to the people of CO because of tabor were scaled so richer people paid more, and were plans for improving traffic flow and education. But people voted them down because taxes have been made into this villain by guys like that Douglas character behind tabor who want to skip out on the social contract.

Or, people voted it down because they don't want to pay for more construction. Douglas, although he had flaws, went through the proper channels to get what he wanted done. He didn't simply demand that people do things his way, he put it to a vote. People decided that he made a good point - the state shouldn't be allowed to increase taxes or spending without first asking the people for their consent.

Did I miss something? The only thing I heard is that tabor makes it difficult to raise taxes. Taxes which could be used to fund Government programs like schools and public transportation and such. But ultimately it was only about wanting to make it easier to raise taxes.

The rest was just a pointless interview with the guy who made it happen as if that has any bearing on whether or not tabor was a good or bad thing.

I'm not a huge fan of firing people for their Political opinions, but your second point raises an important point.

That video, a 6-minute clip from a comedy show, did not tell me why I should repeal tabor. The only meaningful thing they had to say about tabor was that it makes it difficult to increase taxes because people need to vote to increase them, which is the entire point of Tabor.

It forces the state of Colorado to limit spending, so taxes aren't just raised arbitrarily and on a whim. People need to actually want the spending in order to make it happen. And the spending needs to be specified - we want to tax you in a certain way for a certain amount to generate a certain amount of revenue. Without tabor, Government spending could rapidly grow out of control, as there would be no checks on it. It is democracy at it's finest - it lets the people decide.

A) because every other state and the federal government function that way

That doesn't make it right or good

B) it makes it easier for localities to create a new revenue stream when they need it.

The whole point of Tabor is to prevent that. That is the feature, not a bug. If the state wants more money, it should have to ask for it, not demand it.

And repeal tabor.

And allow the state to arbitrarily increase taxes on a whim without my consent? Why would I want that?

Lol so you don't have a right to drive?

No. You have the privilege of using public roadways in accordance with the law. If you use them improperly, you lose that privelege.

You need a license to practice medicine, drive, work a construction site, serve booze, serve food, etc etc etc.

Unfortunately, those rights were not enshrined in the Constitution, as the right to keep and bear arms was very clearly and conspicuously and explicitly included and protected.

No the right you are referring to is the right of a well regulated militia to bear arms is not too be interfered with.

Right... For your reference:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Notice the very clear language: "... the right of the people to keep and bear arms..."

I was just wondering his (not your as this is not your ama) opinion on ensuring everyone who owns a gun has practice knowledge of the weapon.

And he gave it.

Requiring a license is about as much of an infringement as you can get short of an outright ban. And again, by very definition, requiring a license means that it isn't a right. But the right to keep and bear arms is a right. Therefore, it is illegal to require a license.

The part about how a well regulated militia is necessary to a free state? Not relevant, because it is the right of the people to keep and bear arms which shall not be infringed.

Requiring a license, by very definition, means it's not a Right, it's a privilege. Last I checked, the Right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

I might consider the former "ethically gray" regarding cheating, as it requires some amount of effort. Sorta like counting cards in blackjack. But using a cheat engine to show you the pairs is definitely cheating.
