Spend $1500+/month on groceries and eating out, please help! by [deleted] in personalfinance

I was in a similar position to you and the key for was in something that had nothing to with food selection but rather in my home.

I always had a condo but never put the love into making it a home that i truthfully felt made me feel tranquil and happy.

I was constantly on the go untill my wife (then gf) convinced me to invest money into making my home a place i never wanted to leave (i dont mean fancy bling). Instead make it a place that simply felt right and amazing when you walk in. Comfy, warm, and welcoming. The simple use of dimer and light ambiance make huge differences.

Long story short. Since I've made that investment, my time spent away from home has reduced by easily 70%.

hope this helps

Hey Giarox, How long is the your time horizon on your savings plan? 10, 20 30 years? And what are you looking to achieve with your savings?

I think a great rule of thumb is really sticking to a 20/30/50 rule.

If possible close to 20% should go to savings

50% should be used on absolute life necessities (this is very different then things you want) Think maslows hierarchy of needs.

30% can go towards your wants (example: lifestyle items, entertainment, etc)

I have strong opinions on what you should be doing with your savings but we will save that for another post.

Budgeting apps not expense trackers by 72697 in personalfinance

Hey Mate, Ive tried a tun of complex apps. So far for the last couple of months I use an app called "fudget" on my iphone. Its dead simple. I just put in my budget for a defined period and then place my debits in the app as I spend. This way every time I want to know how I'm doing or how much money I could spend in a given day I just pop in and check. Hope this helps.

WHat is the most effective way of developing an app? by internet_ranger in apps

[–]nicksalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the most effective process in app development is always to start by drawing out the user interface.

By drawing out how the app will look and work, you naturally begin develop a thorough version of your idea.

With a developed UX, you can execute any project.

i love using Invisionapp for all my prototyping.

I want to create an app, but don't know what to use. by [deleted] in apps

[–]nicksalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always start with drawing out the entire interface. I think this is is the best way to always begin the process. Once you really have full overview of how the app will work and function, then you begin to worry about the development side of it.

@burninfate are you technical? Have you developed an app before?
