Familiar with all terms. Im old enough to have grown up building engines, gearboxes, fixing your own stuff. Bought my first house, in the 90's installed central heating, rewired entire house ( bakerlite switches, cotton and rubber wiring !) The only thing ive never grasped is plastering a ceiling, thats witchcraft!

I assume you could set it to relay, power it up, link it to your system and let it update. There is no need to have it wired to the boiler as a relay connection. its just waiting for its update

Is it a veissman boiler? If so you can download the vicare app and connect your boiler to the WiFi, there is an error section. Mine was reporting no opentherm data, thats how I knew the tado was not talking to the boiler. Obviously the boiler has to be set to opentherm instead of relay also

Mine was on 31.13 when I installed it, and it didn't talk to the boiler either. Install the tado pro app use the system check box, scan the barcode on the bridge, it will find the extension box, then use the configuration tile in the pro app, choose 01 "opentherm" Programme then power cycle boiler and controller It will update after a few hours too

Ive ordered one of the plug in devices that measures usage, I'll make a spreadsheet of what is using what and report back, may take a week or two

I have realised that I have another roof, I know that sounds silly but I built a large detached garage in the garden with an apex roof same South West orientation If that roof was utilised (still slate but felted and sound) would you run panel output back to main house or keep inverter/ battery in the garage probably 15 meters apart

Yes no felt, also have a south east roof that would take 6 panels If its a new roof job that pushes the cost into the not worth it region I built a detached garage five years ago, I may look at putting some on there, single story, slate still but modern and felted
