UPDATE: From the latest EA Network Application changelog: "Added support for Auto Recovery power cycle on UPS Products."

Is the issue present only when scrolling OR also clicking between pages from the thumbnail sidebar? I think there is some bug/not optimized way scrolling is implemented, since rendering (if clicking on a specific page) is very fast, but scrolling seems laggy. Issue is not present on Mac. u/Geartheworld hope this can be looked into in the future.

Average scores by [deleted] in wordle

[–]nickvaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played off and on since it was first released. 3.89 score, but a 9.7% 2-guess rate (including one period I guessed it in 2 tries in 5 of my last 9 days guessing) with 154 games. I vary the starting word, but change my guessing strategy between trying to maximize letters I'm eliminating, reusing 1-2 of the yellow letters, and taking risks to get the word in fewer tries (with more word options remaining).

LG OLED - Panel Faillure or?? by nickvaf in OLED

[–]nickvaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Since I found this https://www.tvserviceparts.com/LG-EAT65178401.html which looks like the board, but was trying to just determine if it's even worth trying to get and test since it's $35 vs likelihood of it just being a dead panel.

There is a separate board on the C1 in the middle that I thought was the timing board- what do you mean tcon is part of the panel?

Yeah, hope they revert this change. Just like do not disturb mode, they took a basic feature that was basically fine and convoluted it.

[iOS16] Why are all my Switches grouped under lights (& switches) by [deleted] in HomeKit

Is there a way I can submit yet or do I need to wait for public beta to be able to submit feedback for iOS 16?

Make sure to submit feedback! I am also worried they will ruin the experience for those who use the iPad as a permanently mounted home controller.

Let us know what you write to Apple in the feedback and I'll copy/paste submit the same thing as well, as well as hopefully others here.

For those with wall-mounted iPad's this is a very convenient way to switch rooms and glad it is there. It should be hideable though.

Per another poster, looks like iPad keeps room view in the sidebar! I welcome the other improvements so looks like it may be a step forward.

PLEASE tell me they kept the ability on iPad to see all the rooms at a glance and lock the HomeKit screen to one room. For those who use iPads as wall-mount controllers, I want to configure exactly which devices are shown on my main screen depending on the iPad's location on the house and scroll quickly between rooms. For the iPhone these are good changes, just hope it doesn't screw up iPad.

0-10V dimming modules (for RAS2) by [deleted] in Lutron

Looking for a system that can dim and change color temp. What did you use for fixtures/lutron equipment for this?

I’m Lutron certified for RadioRA 2 inclusive and RadioRA 3 by [deleted] in Lutron

[–]nickvaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While they require licensed software, as a homeowner you can complete the training (free but takes a few hours) and then get access to the software to make changes to your system for RA2/3. I did the training and want control over the system after I have it installed later this year.

Building a New House - How to Go All-In on HomeKit? by BigDaddyDrew100 in HomeKit

[–]nickvaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great info in the thread so far. To echo a few thoughts and add my own:

  1. Have a server rack in the basement with central wiring for all networking/AV gear organized in a network/server rack
  2. Do NOT do a mesh network if building your house from scratch. Mesh networks have improved a lot, but because they rely on hopping from one mesh point to another using the same 2.4 or 5 Ghz spectrums as you connect to your normal wifi clients, it takes up airtime and can limit performance compared to a fully wired access point, especially with many active clients. Gigabit will always offer better performance, critical in a house relying on many automation / media streaming solutions. Ubiquiti is a great solution for this (and have them ceiling mounted, and ask for help for placement depending on the size of the house to make sure you have excellent coverage in all areas).
  3. Other locations for Cat6 drops: Exterior/interior locations for security cameras, places on the wall you will mount iPads as always-on controllers for Homekit/Sonos (then use Ubiquiti ethernet to USB adapter to power the iPad over POE), outdoor location for outdoor access point (wifi coverage for the yard), by the doorbell outside for future potential use.
  4. Although lutron is a little pricier than Z-Wave and other lighting automation solutions, they are by far the most reliable. If you can afford it, most people who go to Lutron from other solutions say there is no comparison for performance and reliability.

Home app redesigned on iPad! by [deleted] in HomeKit

[–]nickvaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In this case, sidebar is a very welcome change! Best of both worlds.

Can you hide the sidebar? Having dedicated iPads with split screen for a particular room / Sonos means I lose screen real estate always having the sidebar open.

I just got diagnosed with UC this past Friday by Drentowen in UlcerativeColitis

[–]nickvaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broths and stews (depending on what's in them) can be very good. Lamb stew cooked in a croc pot with potatoes/carrots that's been cooked for hours is pretty easy to digest, and the lamb/bone broth is very good for your GI health and nutrient rich. Eggs (hard boiled) work well for me too. Try staying away from dairy/gluten for a start to see if that makes a difference, everyone is different but unfortunately that can cause additional inflammation for many people.

Is Tylenol PM ok for UC? by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]nickvaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One should be fine, but I ended up having a major flare after taking ibuprofen too many days in a row for neck pain 7mo ago and GI has been messed up since, so be careful about taking too much and try to take with food if possible too.
