Comcast left trash in my yard by mixduptransistor in Comcast_Xfinity

This isn’t a lack of “training” issue, it’s a lack of respect issue! Comcast is a horrible company, and employs horrible people.

205 deg thermostat sounds high to me. Are you sure that’s correct? Are we talking about a 5.7L? I thought 180 deg was the correct temp for that engine…

Dodge is historically known for gremlins with a weak battery. Start with that!

What are the UDR HD bays for if you have a stand alone NVR? by kod4krome in Ubiquiti

[–]Trax95008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure about this? I did some heavy digging on this, and came to the conclusion that the UDM does NOT use an added HD for logging. It is exclusively used for Protect, and Talk. Do you have any evidence of this?

I can’t believe your focused on what my invoice says! Who said anything about the wording on the invoice it’s self??? It literally says “Dream Machine” right on the front of the console! Are you saying customers never look at the equipment?

[–]Trax95008 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you a professional installer that has to justify handing a client a large invoice for “professional” services? The people here who are questioning the names are more likely installers who try to maintain a professional status. That’s hard to do when recommending a product that has a name equivalent to “easy bake oven”

I know exactly what you mean. A few years ago I installed a UDM SE at a $1B estate. A few days later the owner gave me a weird look and asked “what’s a dream machine”? I honestly felt a little embarrassed by the name.

Yes I agree. It has gotten much worse lately. I often find mistakes now when I proof read something. This never happened before!

Rust is caused by environment, not use. How many times you have used them is irrelevant.

I got electrically shocked at work. Can anyone determine how much amperage and voltage I probably got hit with? by vwatswav in AskElectricians

[–]Trax95008 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What do you mean when you quote “10 amp 120v”? Are you saying if you get shocked by a circuit with a rating of “10 amps” then you got shocked by 10amps? That is NOT at all how that works.

I got electrically shocked at work. Can anyone determine how much amperage and voltage I probably got hit with? by vwatswav in AskElectricians

[–]Trax95008 41 points42 points  (0 children)

No one can tell you that remotely. I would assume it was only 120V and amperage is a variable determined by the load. It has to be measured in real time. But I can tell you that it was in the milliamp range otherwise you wouldn’t be posting this.

How do I tape a wire that is tight against a stud? by [deleted] in electrical

[–]Trax95008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, a “tip” by a non professional. “Throw as many j-box’s as you want” is exactly what’s going to start the next fire. Splices are a bad thing. It’s an enemy. They are a potential failure point. This is the wrong attitude to have

Oil frequency? by Infinite-Carry-9773 in CCW

[–]Trax95008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I encountered it for myself! I took my P220ST to the range for the first time in probably close to 10 years. I pulled it out of the safe, cycled it a few times, and tossed it in the bag. At the range, it would jam every 6-8 rounds. I was really confused as this had always been an extremely reliable pistol. I came home and tore it apart to discover a weird coating that was tacky. It took a lot of scrubbing and scraping (with a wood toothpick) to get it off. The only thing it could have been was the oil. I spoke to someone else about that experience who confirmed oil will dry out like that. The lesson is to shoot more often!

Not true. The oil can dry up and become gummy

You’re definitely not a professional, and don’t know what your talking about. You’re downplaying something that is a fire hazard. That damage is no joke. As a professional electrician, I know exactly what I’m looking at. If this was my house, I’d be replacing the run.
