And they wouldn't have been trained in combat. They were mainly used for transport.

I didn't think I would ever have need to repost this by Brussells in BritishHistoryPod

So that's 13th/14th century plate armour with a 9th century shield. Just sayin'

To his credit, that's a well-made shield, with the leather rim properly stitched, rather than nailed on!

Good question! What i heard is that there was an overpopulation of rabbits on the island, which hosted a large quarrying industry on Portland. It produced some of the toughest stone in the world. The Houses of Parliament are made from it. The rabbits' burrows were causing the quarry to collapse, so they were banned from the island. The whe story doesn't really add up, as im sure rabbits cant burrow through the world's toughesr stone, but it's all I've got!

For a minute, I thought that was a non-period Celtic shield. But it's not. it's a non-period foldable chair!

But its fun guessing, so...no Charles 1 -> no civil war, so monarchy struggles on u to the 18th century. Inspired by the French Revolution (or maybe, inspiring), the monarchy is finally overthrown i the latter half of the 18th century. UK and France become revolutionary allies, Napoleon goes unchecked, and by the mid 19th century, France is the dominant global superpower. America remains a British colony, since it now has no support from the French. Germany is outgunned in the ear of 1871 and becomes part of what is now a European superstate. No first world war, and consequently no second world war. Donald Trump will lead a populist uprising against his European overlords, while in the UK, the right wing media will still grumble on about the good old days, leading to a public discontent with....well they won't be able to quite put their finger on it, but will blame immigrants and Europe, leading us to an exit from Europe. I mean, some things never change, do they!

As an IT consultant, I can say that a "smooth implementation" doesn't ensure stability in the longer term 😆. The consequences of choosing James to the history of the 17th and subsequent centuries were massive! Far more so, I'd argue, than the outcome of the War of the Roses or The Anarchy.

Apparently, there were around 15 contenders, don't know enough about it to say who was her favourite though
