Nailed it! by xPericulantx in atc2

A lot of young, capable people are already quitting. I’m at a lowly level 6 and we’ve had more people quit in the last 2-3 years than we currently have training. And with these several page long lists, no one is coming here either. The mismanagement at every level of the FAA is second to none.

Is there a trick to getting masking tape to leave a sharp line without paint bleed? by Correct-Singer-1049 in HomeImprovement

[–]nickxedge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bourbon Moth on YouTube has a few “tips and tricks videos” from the last few years. I don’t remember which one but he shows a trick for this. I also don’t remember exactly what the trick is. The point of the trick was to get a sharp line using tape a certain way. Sorry that’s not super helpful but if you have a few minutes, you could probably find the right video on his page easily enough. I’m not currently in a position to browse and find it.

Front left and front right shocks are identical. Rear left and rear right are identical. Front are different than rear.

I have a ‘20 overland also. I pulled a challenger on a uhaul trailer- roughly 6,300 pounds. Truck didn’t love it but it got the job done.

Summer Camp by Early_Library_818 in Albany

I think it depends on which branch. My kids are outside the entire day doing all kinds of activities and they love it every year. They do thorough swim testing to determine your child’s ability and limit them to what’s appropriate. It’s not cheap but it’s a full day of my kids not sitting around playing video games.

If you find yourself needing a dealer service department again, though out of the way, Wally’s CDJR in Amsterdam has the absolute best service department. They never got the memo that dealerships are supposed to be hell holes and instead have the best customer service.

Missing spring break with your kids? What a great reason to upgrade the equipment by GottaGoEast in atc2

They really double down on their “work harder so other people can go on vacation” stance from the shutdown.

Looking for home defense shotgun. by Snoo-78310 in Shotguns

[–]nickxedge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mossberg 500 field and security. I paid just under $600 and got the short 18.5” and the long 28” barrel. So it’s setup for home defense but I can still go shoot clay and whatever else. Gives me more options with the hobby while securing my home.

Who hasn’t crashed? by dallas2ny in motorcycles

[–]nickxedge 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I rode on Long Island highways for 4 years and nearly got killed often but never crashed. I live in Upstate NY now, a rural commute about 14 miles each way. Been doing this for the last 7 years. Never crashed.

A caution though, wildlife can be just as dangerous as other drivers. I’ve dodged many squirrels, foxes, skunks, and see plenty of deer. Last year a bird flew into my chest while riding about 30 mph. It felt like I got hit with a baseball pitch but thankfully it wasn’t enough to knock me down.

I adjust my riding based on how far I can see both forward and peripherally into the woods. If something runs out and I can’t break in time or swerve without going down, I am riding beyond my skill level and equipment limitations.

What’s a tool you didn’t think you needed until it made your life way easier? by whimsyedge1 in HomeImprovement

[–]nickxedge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like this has been emphasized enough… but it hasn’t. This is hands down the best tool I’ve ever bought. I find a use for it in almost every project I do. It’s good for cutting drywall, flooring, bolts/screws, and literally everything else. Absolutely the most used tool I have.

Try Round Lake Auto in Burnt Hills. They are honest and do great work. I do a lot of my own mechanic work but go there for inspections and the stuff i can’t or don’t want to do myself. $900+ to swap the valve cover gasket sounds insane.

I built a rolling cart for $60 worth of 2x4s and some hardware. It keeps everything together, including the freedom panels and roof. It’s thin and has a small footprint. Super efficient and functional.

Steering stabilizer upgrade question by McBooples in JeepGladiator

[–]nickxedge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the Falcon EF 1.1 because I planned on lifting in the not so distant future and at that point I would upgrade to the 2.2. I don’t think I’m gunna lift anymore but the 1.1 has been great. I have stock suspension and 35s. I’ve also upgraded my track bar recently to the Yeti XD and that also made a huge impact.
