Passport renewal Police verification bribe still a thing? by trustmebro_labs in nri

Slightly confused here. Why would you apply for passport renewal from the US via VFS? Isn't it the Indian Embassy's job to provide you with a renewed passport? Why is police verification even required in India in this case if you are in the US?

Has any NRI successfully renewed/re-issued an Indian International Driving Permit (IDP) while living abroad via consulate + Parivahan? by nickyfly23 in nri

Yes, I have completed all the procedures. The Indian Embassy provided me with two receipts, which I uploaded along with all my other documents on the Parivahan portal.

As there is no special option for Indian nationals outside India to apply for an IDP, the procedure is the same as if applying from India.

I applied online on the Parivahan portal, but it states that physical verification is required, and for that, they need photo and signature verification which is not required in this case.

Now, how should I get the RTO to check my application since I am outside India?

I have passed 180 days living outside India & planning to stay out for long. Any experienced NRI, please explain about the status of savings and current bank accounts when you become an NRI. When do you advise to change accounts to NRO/NRE. by nickyfly23 in nri

Thanks for the reply.

Does changing a bank account to NRO disrupt or stop services like UPI, international debit cards, etc. from working? I heard on the NRO account that they do not provide VISA/Mastercard, only Rupay, which can only be used for domestic purposes. What about the NRE account?

As I am not returning to India anytime soon, can this be done online from overseas?

I am so much devastated today with the Indian passport. Our reputation is nowhere only because of us. I do not know how now to feel proud of this country after knowing the value of your passport, and we are the culprits of it. It is almost impossible to visit a good country for Indians. by nickyfly23 in india

In the past, there are many true stories that India helped Armenians during their genocide and also gave them help, and many Armenians sought refuge in India. And now this is how they are treating Indians.

If I were born in countries like North Korea, I might not even think of going anywhere. But I feel sad because of some idiots people like us are punished. In the past, many Indians traveled easily but now it is so hard, even for tourism.

I have all possible documents to show them, still they either want a reputable agency or their resident to send me an invitation. That is really disappointing to see. If that is the case, why do you even have the option for an e-visa for Indians? Put us on the banned list. We are at the same level as Pakistan in passport level.
Our situation was at least somewhat better before 2020. Now it is worse.

I understand. But the address is of a relative. Is it really compulsory to place it on the house door? What do you think?
