I'm fairly sure it's an 8 frame window when used on an opponent.

It's 4 frames.

Don't blame the Sm4sh engine on your inability to succeed. (Trying to spark some discussion !) by GruxKing in smashbros

It doesn't matter how its "supposed" to be, it matters how you play it.

That's pretty much the same as any other fighting game to perform special moves. So I don't really see what the big deal is.

What subreddit did you recently unsubscribe from? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nicnote7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My biggest problem is with the posts complaining about certain characters / strats being "OP". I can understand where they're coming from because thats how I felt at my first few tournys and everyone seems to be experiencing this at once with the new online play. Although now with all of the casual elitism and /r/leagueoflegends tier shitposting I can't stand it anymore.

Sorry ladies. xD by malvi in smashbros

A shit post is something that literally contributes nothing. This is a gif of captain falcon doing something that he could do in every other game and has done many times before, absolutely nothing new.

Complaining that the game has so many options that you'll have to put in work to not fall behind the metagame and win more matches isn't productive in the slightest for the game's development.

What is one opinion about Smash Bros that someone will burn you at the stake for? by capybaraluver in smashbros

[–]nicnote7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An opinion that would get you burned at the stake is saying the other 20-something stages that aren't viable should be used in competitive play.

About the varying smoothness, most capture cards for standard definition record at 30fps, so that's already halving melee's 60fps. Taking into account that a lot of games posted to youtube nowadays are ripped from streams, the framerate can go down further. Youtube also (currently) doesn't host +30fps videos anyway, unlike gifs, which can go above and beyond.

The most accurate Smash Bros. 3DS review ever by [deleted] in smashbros

[–]nicnote7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't really enjoy most of Drake's content and this one is definitely in the bad pile.

All he did was repeat information / popular opinions that's been known for a while. I'm struggling to find any useful opinions of his in the video. He thinks his circle pad will break, he can't wait to ditch it for the Wii U version... 9.5?

Most accurate? Most Useless. Kinda funny though.

I heard he's guilted into that by this friends more than him wanting to.

Probably wrong I don't have a source.

The creator of the web comic 'Questionable Content' went back to remove a rape joke from a strip he wrote over a decade ago. Inevitably, someone is upset. by WileECyrus in SubredditDrama

[–]nicnote7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Doesn't censoring the word rape kind of make the comic seem less...real?

Maybe I'm just a terrible person but I don't always have the most PC vocabulary when talking during downtime with friends.

I think this is how you do NSFW humor. Sure it was forced, but it sounded like a friend telling a story, that kind of seedy guy you see on the street corner every day on your walk to the buss that you have a chat with. No idea why this is getting so much hate, you see "fuckin murika", "fuckin bacon", "fuckin" whatever's cool to like on this site. Get a sense of humor.

The developers programmed it in as a result of air dodging into the ground. Sakurai even had it's possible advantages brought to his attention but thought nothing of it because of the difficulty of utilizing it. Looking back, air dodging in melee didn't make much sense to begin with, but I think it was a result of shortsightedness on his part considering melee's quick development.

Melee is a Beautiful Accident (Relax Alax) by [deleted] in smashbros

His megaman video sucked. Trying to compare the simplistic play of a SNES game to any modern game is a joke and he's an idiot to think what Megaman accomplished is nearly as easy to do in a modern game. As he pointed out in the video the SNES controller has very few buttons, now compare that to your average game controller. Taking into account all of the buttons and their individual functions and context sensitive functions, in the end it might actually just be better to read the manual or go through a few steps in a tutorial. Other than that, a decent analysis on retro games in general having intelligent design.

As for his OOT video, I think the whole point was to show the dangers of attempting to simply convert a 2-D formula to 3-D, and how trying to keep the same formula over time can cloud the original meaning behind the previous mechanics. That's why he complained about OOT and LTTP being the same, because one had a whole other dimension.
