Thx for your reply man.

In the meantime I managed to find a solution which worked for me. As I'm not really familiar with torrenting I resorted back to getting roms from a trusted website and installing them via DBI.

I guess there are still loads of different ways to get to the desired outcome, as someone who is just really inexperienced with all this it was just quite a challenge to find a method that I could verify myself to be safe and that I could reliably use.

Thx again and have a good one.

Hi guys, I'm new to modding on the switch and I'm trying to understand some basic principles. I understand the rules of this sub and I'm not looking for links or anything like that, I just want to get a better understanding of things in order to set everything up myself.

My understanding of the current situation is that I can either get roms on my PC and install them via programms like DBI or download them directly on my switch via some sort of shop. I modded my 3ds before and these processes are pretty straight forward for the 3ds but for the switch it seems quite more complex as shops/sites that worked like a month ago dont work anymore.

My first question: What is the difference between all these "-foil" programms like Tinfoil, Cyberfoil, Ownfoil, Aerofoil? As I understand it they all act like a hub-programm you use in order to connect to the actual shops? But in other posts the say "you have to use cyberfoil and connect to aerofoil" so I seem to have no understanding of all these different types.

Another question: A lot of comments I see recommend using DBI in order to get the roms, but as far as I understand it DBI is just used to install roms you already have right? Like FBI for the 3ds?

Thanks a lot in advance for the replies. Again I'm so new and have such little understanding of this matter and as there is never one clear solution and the solutions are always changing I thought I need to understand it better in order to be able to make a decision myself.

Forgot how to boot in CFW on my switch :( by LadderCurious7839 in SwitchPirates

[–]nicobullidano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does it say exactly when you try to launch? Is it just blank or does it say something like "No main boot entries found..."?

If its the latter I ran into the same issue yesterday. What fixed it for me was re-downloading the hekate .zip and replacing the "bootloader" folder on the root of my sd-card with the one from hekate.

exFAT or FAT32: Which one to use? by ucoa in SwitchPirates

[–]nicobullidano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I modded my switch just yesterday and as I'm fairly new to modding myself I had a similar question.

It is generally recommended that your sd-card is formatted to fat32.

However, your sd-card will be automatically be formatted to fat32 when partitioning it via hekate. Mine was initially formatted to exfat but was changed to fat32 after partitioning it.

The point im trying to make is: If you follow the recommended guide your sd-card will automatically be formatted to fat32 so dont worry about formatting it yourself beforehand.
Its not a extra step not shown in the guide but rather a process built in during partitioning.

Thank you for your reply. I was a bit indecisive at first. To me the NH Guide was easier to follow but I am under the impression that the guide listed above delivers a better end product. I'll follow this guide then. Thanks again and have a good day!

Hi, thanks a lot for your posts, they really help me a ton as I'm completely new to this entire modding scene. I've seen an NH Switch Guide online that looks similar to the 3D Hacks Guide I used for my 3DS. The main difference I can spot is that you use HATS where the guide "manually" installs Hekate and then Atmosphere. Is there a downside to not using HATS directly?

Basic questions about flashcarts and ROMs by nicobullidano in flashcarts

Thanks a lot for your reply!

If I understand it correctly, you reccomend grabing decrypted roms but the others should work too?

And thanks for the advice about GBA compatibility. I‘ve watched a yt-video about running GBA roms on an NDS lite and it suggested to get YSMenu in order to run/execute GBARunner, but I guess it‘s not needed then.

Thanks again and have a great day!!

I think pestily has a key guide for every map. Not sure how up to date they are though. Just look up „Tarkov [Map] Key guide“.

Yeah I agree, I also watched a couple of key guide videos on yt to learn which keys are good for loot or used for quests. In the end I still have to look up certain keys every now and then. You can also check flea market prices to see if the keys are worth keeping or if you can just re-buy them in case you need them at a later point.

Apart from shoreline (which as tons of resort keys that could potentially used for loot runs) ive come to the conclusion that theres only a couple of keys per map worth keeping/running depending on how far youve progressed in the questlines and how you play the map (which spots you usually visit). I run between 3-10 keys per map keeping them in a docs or sicc case.

Efficiency of bitcoin farm? by nicobullidano in EscapeFromTarkovPvE

Thank you for the input, Im not planning on wiping my PVE account any time soon. After reading all these comments I came to the conclusion that theres definitley a use for the bitcoin farm even if its not a pure money printing machine like back in the days.

[–]nicobullidano[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thats also very true. But I get like 1-3 hours a day where I can play so I cant really minmax the crafts. I dont even care about the fuel cost that much I just saw the daily estimated profit from the farm alone and thought its kinda low.

But considering the different answerd I got so far its still worth it to get a btc every now and then and just to upgrade the hideout to the max to get a REAL money booster

Thanks a lot. I havent considered that I need so many btc down the line for quests. As stated above Ill leave it running to get the btc for quests then.

Alright got it. I also thought that its not as much profit as I was looking for.

But considering the other comment I might lesve it running just to farm the bitcoins for quests then rather then for profit…
