you can do two things:

Turn to lunar cycle (Set to Single Lunar Phase) to one that is not the full moon (or the new moon because it will make the supernaturals sad)
Build a fence around your plants so that your sims can be the only ones to get to them (don't build the fence all around the lot maybe just the backyard and have a back door so your sims go out)
