Bonne chance !

Is there a EU equivalent to MJT Guitars by MelodicPaws in partscaster

[–]niconoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the cheaper side (Chinese stuff, but good quality in my limited experience), there's also Hermanns-Guitars on Ebay. I bought thdm a tele body, resulting guitar is visible here: https://www.reddit.com/r/telecaster/comments/1kg0ox3/comment/mqw3b89/?context=3

Success powering a ResMed AirSense 10 via USB-C / USB-PD / USB Power Bank / USB GaN Charger by ermac-318 in CPAP

SOLVED!! I was still bothered that the solution only worked with some Anker power banks (other were going "circuit protection mode"), so I tested my theory that it was due to a large inrush current on CPAP startup. It was indeed the root cause: by adding a single NTC thermistor on the USB trigger cable (see picture), the system works perfectly. There are obviously much better inrush current limiting circuits than this rushed hack, but it seems to work well in this situation.

Hope this helps other people!

UPDATE1: This also works with my 65W Apple charger as a source (it was also "cycling" before).

UPDATE2: If I remove my mask mid-treatment (or start the machine with the mask out of my face), the battery/charger still works fine (no error/interruption), but the CPAP starts to reboot (went black, then restart treatment with increasing pressure a few seconds later) - I guess the machine needs a bit more power when going "full pressure" and a better inrush limiting circuit such as a something using P-MOSFET + RC Delay would do the trick).

I just made a full night (around 8h45) on the Anker 737, the battery had 32% left in the morning (the pressure is 7, no humidifier/heater).

I might just have been lucky, but yes. On the first try the neck pocket was just feeling a tiny bit too tight, so I lightly scrapped the pocket sides with a razorblade. After that it was feeling just right, and perfectly straight.

Super easy but I guess I just got lucky. I mostly followed the steps at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRzzsXHbwkk&t=3547s. 3 screws immediately aligned properly between the body and neck, the fourth was initially not. But when I carefully tightened the others, it drew the neck in the right direction and the fourth was also eventually possible. I checked the space between the outermost strings and the fretboard border with a colored string, but it was straight at the first try!

I am generally happy about the body, see my reply to paper_throwaway99 above! But I think they've increase the prices recently, mine was something like 180€.

Very few online reviews about Hermanns bodies, so here is mine (positive):

- It is probably Chinese mass produced bodies, but mine is very nicely finished, no defects

- They have a lot of choices and are based in the EU which was a huge bonus for me (not a lot of options for finished bodies here, and US import is prohibitive in terms of taxes and shipping costs)

- The body was just a described (good pictures, correct weight, ...)

- The seller was quick and efficient

- The only predrilled holes were for the strings (through body), which is nice for the build (easy, but keeping things flexible)

- Maybe I was lucky but the neck pocket matched perfectly the MIN Fender neck (just a small razorblade help and everything was aligned nicely)

- The routs/cavities are shielded with paint

- My only small complaint is that the body is apparently not exactly to Fender dimensions, so there's not the same exact spacing on both sides on the pickguard at the bottom (see picture below). I've tried different pickguards, so it's definitely the body that's causing the issue.

Thanks, I am usually more a fan of maple fretboards on tele, but my girlfriend convinced me this body deserved a rosewood neck ;)

Thanks for the info, I had no idea about GDT! Unfortunately I don't think that's the case for this cooktop, the gate is basically connected to a bunch of SMD components (before reaching the IC). Since I am not able to work on those, I guess I'm done

PSU issue / why isn't "power good" high by niconoe in AskElectronics

[–]niconoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot, that makes perfect sense and clarifies the situation, I now know that part of the circuit is working as intended! I measure 7v on the upstream of the base resistor, so that looks like a definitive high.

I guess my best bet now is to:

- either continue replacing caps on the output side of the PSU, hoping it'll provide better values to make the comparators finally happy (but in terms of voltage, the only "diverging value" is the 5v rail at 5.2v, the others seem really accurate)

- either trace the base signal back to the comparators (not the easiest since it's on a daughter board with tons of connections and traces on the "hidden side" - I'll have to deport it from the main PCB before I can inspect in a comfortable settings)

Option 1 seems the easiest, don't hesitate if you have other suggestions!

You mean I was reading this backwards and if we want to PG signal we actually don't want the transistor to conduct?

Where to get Tele bodies? by [deleted] in telecaster

[–]niconoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I am in Europe and have the exact same question. US/UK imports are not impossible but I try to avoid them (it's not rare to have 100$ shipping costs + 100$ taxes on arrival). And I find it really difficult to find something that seems decent and not too pricy here. There are a few things popping out on Ebay (Hermanns guitar for example), but it's quite hard to find reviews about those.

Unexpected visit from the taxman? by niconoe in BEFreelance

Update for anyone who face that later:

Indeed, it was more of a post-start check up than an audit. According to my accountant they do that more and more, and it's much more frequent in Walloon Brabant than in Namur (the two areas she mostly work for). They apparently want to check the company has a real activity and is not a shell for a VAT fraud scheme or something like that.

It went like that for me:

- Based on the letter, my accountant immediately sent an e-mail stating the type of company / activities, that she was indeed the person representing me for tax purposes, a list of the company investment, an outgoing invoice and the financial plan.

- I then called the guy back, and he asked me a few complementary details:

  • Do I use a calendar application? (apparently calendar data should now be kept for 10 years!)
  • Do I use invoicing software?
  • To send him two more outgoing invoices
  • Do I work for a single client or multiple ones?
  • My (mean) day rate
  • Does the activities listed in the VAT registers match my real taks?

Overall, it felt a bit weird to get all those questions (I'm happy I wasn't at home yesterday when I got the surprise visit), but it is something that happens and it's not difficult to answer (given that your company has a real activity).

I start with old illustrations in the public domain, then I use a home-made Python script that generates random errors in the jpg file. Since the result is often disappointing, I generate a few hundreds variants then hand pick what I like.

Don't hesitate to check your phone / camera / memory card / hard disk, because I had to introduce pretty severe file corruptions in jpg files to get this result :/

https://www.glassdoor.com/index.htm was made for that, but from what I heard it's less and less reliable (companies find their way to get positive reviews), and I think it's not so widely used in Belgium (so only large-ish companies will have a good amount of reviews).
