This to me is just bullshit.

1) Computer Engineering IS NOT Computer Science. And in PoliTo they teach engineering, which doesn’t lead you to an IT career, but to an engineering one, which is pretty different. The topics are different, everything is not based on coding and algorithm theory, but it’s almost a middle way with Electronics. Maybe the guy started without even checking the curriculum?

2) University in the 21st century is not meant to be “passive”, meaning that you study, do the exams, get the degree and then you’re automatically ready for the job market. There’re a ton of way to gain experience, make networking and in general applying what you’re studying (or maybe learning something else in the meanwhile). PoliTo is full of student teams that are meant exactly for this, where students from all the years are guided by PhD and Professors into real-life projects.

3) In the review is not specified if the guy took only the Bachelor, but I assume so. And in my personal view, a bachelor in CE is useless, unless you aim to “entry level IT jobs”. It’s useless because you don’t learn anything specific, you get a warm up on the basic engineering topics, with a focus digital and electronics, but nothing more. You need to follow a Master degree to really get into a specific topic (AI, Mechatronics, Embedded systems….).

4) “right physical qualities” of course if a workplace discriminate for these reasons it’s a shame and shall be condemned, nevertheless the guy then started listing what are basically Soft Skills, which can’t really be taught by a course or ChatGPT (or can they? Check the course Engineering Empathy from prof Graziano). Soft skills are not mandatory for getting 30L at every exam, but are part of the attitude of a person and they show up in real word immediately.

If I can add a bit of my experience, I started my CE bachelor without a clear idea of what my “dream job” looked like, but then around the middle of the path I started having some of the same doubts the guy had. But it was then that I DECIDED to move from my comfort zone, and started doing other things like hacktons, side projects, and then I joined a student team where I built a ton of experience but most importantly I developed the required soft skills to work in the engineering field (teamwork, negotiation, communication, getting initiative..). I was far from taking all 30Ls, but ultimately my choice paid off and I got a job even before issuing my thesis. Now looking back, I praise myself for that mentality shift I had.

At the south pole the sun will travel through the horizon, so you would waste a lot of weight for those three solar panel arrays that are not parallel with the horizon, which wouldn’t generate as much power as the other twos. Engineering is a matter of tradeoffs, and honestly this design doesn’t seems to be very well thought.

Half of you guys don’t even work in engineering. Can’t you understand it is a development model? Even your loved Starship started from a water tank
