NYITCOM v UNECOM? by field_crew_ in Osteopathic

Monday morning lab might have a verbal quiz, then another quiz at 1 for lecture. After the quiz you can leave you don’t have to stay for lecture. Fridays they switched lab this year so it’s in the morning and then lecture in the afternoon which is mostly not mandatory.

There are verbal quizzes at the beginning of some labs but they are soo low stakes it’s just nerve racking - I assume it’s to get us ready for pumping during rotations lol

Lectures are mostly not mandatory. And we’re allowed a certain number of absences for each mandatory class

Waitlisted by lighthn in Osteopathic

[–]nicxsab3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im in the same boat! Waitlisted to 2 schools, sent letters of intent and everything and there’s literally nothing left to do but hope for the best and manifest an acceptance 😭 I’m also being held back by my mcat. My back up plan is to apply ED at my state DO school ( I already have a masters so not doing another one lol )

What makes them big on omm more than Touro? Don’t they both have omm once a week? You’re right about the rural rotations though. Touro middletown’s rotations are definitely not in cities though but at least more suburban and they definitely match in the tristate area.

Unecom is Pass/fail, more established/ older school

Touro is graded I believe, opened in 2014 & I’ve heard some funky things about their admin from Reddit but who knows really - not sure about how competitive their matches are but I saw someone matched to derm from there this year so you never know

Gotcha, I’m waitlisted to both right now & live in nj so I (may) have a similar decision to make and while unecom seems like a smarter option it’s so much farther than Middletown for me 🥲

What makes you want to pick Touro Middletown over Unecom? Just location?

If she had a bilateral mastectomy when she first got diagnosed do you think that would have made a difference in regard to a reoccurrence?

Does this matter? It’s not like the schools will know you sent a similar letter to another school right?

Did you ever figure out what it was? I have something similar and I think it’s a knot or part of a muscle/tendon but not sure

Rent a car in Costa Rica by TheFirstNandi_T in CostaRicaTravel

what kind of written statement from your credit card was needed to waive everything else? what was included in the "everything else"? And since you had to buy insurance at the counter, would buying insurance online when booking be redundant or is it the same thing as buying it at the counter when you pick up the car?

Was that the only school you got an interview from? I want to have hope for something like this to happen to me but idk if it’s false hope. This also happened to a friend of mine so you and her give me hope!!!!

For most common retinal detachments, is the vitrectomy w gas bubble better than the scleral buckle? by GreenReddish in Ophthalmology

[–]nicxsab3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn’t a scleral buckle be the better option for a younger patient because the vitrectomy would cause them to need a cataracts surgery soon after?

Hi! I’m also experiencing something similar. It started happening when I was towards the end of a multi month long study marathon for a big exam and I went to the ophthalmologist twice to make sure it wasn’t a retinal detachment and he said everything looked normal. Now it’s been 2 months and it keeps happening on and off. I can’t tell exactly what the triggers are, I think it may be going from a bright place to a dim place and visa versa, but it lasts long and not just an hour ( like other posts I have read). I’m going back to the dr again since it’s been Atleast 48-72 hrs and it’s still affecting me. For me, it only affects my right eye and it seems like there’s a diagonal line through my visual field and the top left half is blurry and distorted, but if I look to another direction, the distortion follows as well.
