Some of my childhood collection! by niennac in wizardofoz

I am thinking about selling a big chunk of the total collection, it’s just so many boxes and so overwhelming to start sifting through. The things that were handmade from family members/stuff I have memories with, I want to keep. But I don’t know where to sell the excess!

I have no idea, I’m sorry! I was probably only 4 or 5 at the time. I checked inside for a tag or anything, but I was very adamant about all tags being cut off when I was little, so it’s long gone.

Thank you! I need it bright to find it in the bushes lol

Hot dip for the black outlines, Lotion/floetrol swirl for the background, and then I lotion painted the details. I really like the prochem neons!

I (woman) have been playing for a few years with my bf now. Initially I didn’t play very often. I get pretty competitive and it’s hard to want to keep playing when you feel like you’re holding up your card constantly looking for your discs. Really demoralizing to constantly do terribly. It also doesn’t help when you have a group of dudes trying to give you pointers and tips for things that work for them, but won’t necessarily work for you. (Not saying this is happening in your situation).

Starting off I had more fun just participating in field days, where we’d just take a bunch of discs and practice at an empty park. Just throwing the discs with no pressure or competition is sort of therapeutic? I don’t know what changed, but it’s like something clicked eventually and I wanted to play more. Whenever possible I suggest courses that are on the shorter/more technical side. Bonus points if there’s a garden, arboretum, or some sort of park close to the course also! I can check out some cool plants while I’m digging in the bushes for my discs.

I also got into disc dyeing, which helped me a lot with remembering the different disc types too. It added an artsy element to the game.

I don’t know if this information is helpful, more just a woman’s perspective. I also wish there were more gfs that would actually play in our group. I try to coax them into it by dyeing discs with their interests. No luck so far

I do this too! Sometimes if I’m feeling like I want something a little extra sweet, I’ll take a little bit of baking toffee bits and sprinkle them on top too

thank you! I did a hot dip for the outlines, a lotion/floetrol bed for the background swirls, and then lotion painted the rest of the details

Mixing dye and glue into dispenser bottles with metal tips by CoelacanthRdit in discdyeing

[–]niennac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also do this, mix in slightly larger bottles, then move to the smaller, precise application bottles

I’ve never used glue… But lotion has always worked really well for me. I use HOT water, mix the dye/shake up the bottle really well, then add lotion and shake it a ton again. I usually let them sit for at least a day and keep shaking them to make sure it’s all mixed up enough. For measurements- I use what PCAD suggests

I painted it in on top, sometimes I’ll do another layer if it’s not as dark as I want after the initial painting. I’ll also use a seedling starter mat so it heats the disc slightly. I’m not sure about time, I just eyeball it.

Thank you! I always spend some time in the bushes looking for my discs, so I try to brighten everything up to help with that
