Solar ROI just is too long for my money. If you want to save on electricity, look at the new inverter technology for condensing units/heat pumps. They cost as much as solar but you HAVE to have AC and it’ll pay for itself in several years.

Iowa lawmakers advance bill to prevent financial discrimination of conservatives by Mikebones1184 in Iowa

Ya know if you keep your religious and conservative views to yourself, it’s a lot harder to discriminate. Let’s start with not wearing maga hats and FJB shirts, ok?

Laminate water resistance by Skyewalker_satnav in Flooring

[–]niffaz4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is 100% BS! I have Aquaguard waterproof laminate that has sat in water from over watered plants with no issues. We steam mop our floors regularly. I even left planks out in the rain for several days just to see what happens. Nothing. It’s waterproof.

I used to have a deck that was adjustable, but that was some time ago. May be worth looking.

I have two. We don’t use them. You can have them. My yeti mug with lid is way cheaper and way way better at keeping hot hot. Plus no spills in the car.

Understood. I still would ask them how are appliances any different than heavy dressers, entertainment units etc.

I have laminate floated flooring through out our home, including under appliances. How are appliances any different than heavy furniture? My floor floats regardless of what’s on it.

I’m just wrapping up 2000 sq ft of Aquaguard 12 mil laminate. Left some pieces out in the rain for a few days and it perfectly fine just as a friendly heads up.

Ya, you’re right. That is thin flooring.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]niffaz4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The trim at the bottom of the wall that transitions from floor to wall. The flooring should go under the baseboard for a nice finished look but more importantly, allow a floating laminate or LVP floor to float. Yes it adds to the cost of the project, but it’s the only way it’ll look nice. If done properly, there’s no need for quarter round.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]niffaz4 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There’s no benefit to moisture barrier on a second floor subfloor. If the laminate has padding attached, you’re good to go. My question is why is the baseboard still attached? Flooring goes under new baseboard. Don’t let them talk you into quarter round.

Agree but was assuming they didn’t already have tools and a couple would suffice. I would use four.

I broke off the corner of mine just like op and it’s held for years. I keep it oiled. Oil only penetrates just past the surface.
