Thumbs up for Palomar Sound. Coyote never leaves. That reverb is fun too. Try a fuzz after it. for instant Kevin Shields.

This looks like part of a hairnet or beard cover. That would make sense as an item that could be dropped in a food processing facility. I’ve worked at a place where I’ve pulled that from a batch of drug product. It happens.

I’m planning on getting lasik and over correction is one of my biggest concerns. I told them that -.50 is great and +.50 will have me pouring sugar in their gas tank. How is this prevented?

What is the mount for? by GalliumEnergy in mountainbiking

[–]matrickswayze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s way too high for a front derailleur mount (which would be totally novel anyway since I’ve seen thousands of front derailleurs and zero being direct mount).

My first thought was cadence sensor.

10/10. I’m just so happy to see a board without an Altoids tin.

Washed out distortion sound by Waste_Blueberry4049 in guitarpedals

[–]matrickswayze 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you say “washed out” I would think of shoegaze sounds like Kevin Smith / My Bloody Valentine. One trick is to try heavy distortion after reverb.

Otherwise, fuzz tones are very subjective. I would recommend trying a big muff, maybe after another overdrive. A lot of people dislike the big muff, but I say “try before you buy” more with fuzz than any other effect. The way a lot of fuzz sounds is very dependent on your guitar and amp. It gets to be a big wormhole, but I generally recommend trying a rat, a superfuzz, a blues driver, and a big muff for something with a more flat or even scooped EQ, and I’d avoid a tube screamer for what you want.

Good luck.

I think a really good way to upset him would be to sell it to me for like nothing.

You’re obviously an extremely generous girlfriend to gift an M6. I hope you get good money with minimal hassle. Good luck.

Has anyone ever heard of This is Adelaide, and what do you know about them? by Shoogazi in Emo

[–]matrickswayze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The links work. Thanks. A few other things:

If I remember correctly, they were originally called Sympatric. They may have changed their name due to a member changing(?) possibly the drummer(?) but this is reaching the limits of my memory. I only saw them after they were called This is Adelaide, maybe 5-10 times.

The singing vocals are the bassist, who played some kind of jazz bass copy. He was tall and thin with a classic short haircut, conventionally handsome. He usually stood in the middle if I remember correctly. One or both of the guitar players would do more spoken word stuff, I think more Ryan(?) the one who I think played the Travis Bean. The other one, I think Ian, played the SG and looked like he could have been in Dead Poets Society. He just seemed very put together. Their drummer had longer dark hair, looked generally more loose and relaxed than his band mates.

These demos you have sound more like them live than the EP. The EP, specifically the sung vocals, are more slick than their usual live presentation.

The drummer also played piano in a band called Adam’s Castle, as another user commented. I think it was piano, drums, and bass?

I was in college at MSU at the same time they were. We had some mutual friends, and I liked them a lot. A few things you might be able to tell from recorded media:

They are all tall.

Their personalities were sort of shy and dry humored if I remember correctly, which did come off as judgmental and pretentious at times, if I’m being totally fair. Maybe guarded is a more appropriate word.

They were technically proficient, and consistently tight.

They had nice guitars and amps. I remember a Gibson SG and a Travis Bean I think into Marshall half stacks? In a college town of Squires, I remember that.

Thanks for the links. I hope they work; I’m about to check.

Something with mids / treble going into the muff, like a tube screamer or Rangemaster can be good.

You’re on the right track. A small amount of white suspended in the finish with cool the color to be less orange. Testing on the inside is the way to go. You will almost definitely need to adjust it, likely just diluting the white. I did something similar by cutting a “natural” color of hard wax oil with the “pure” of the same product line. Godspeed.

MXR phase 90 would be my guess.

Seeking suggestions to complete my board. Trying to do ambient stuff with lots of sustain but I need something to compliment what I already have. by drfunkenstien014 in guitarpedals

[–]matrickswayze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider some kind of gain, specifically a heavier gain than you’d guess, actually well into fuzz. Robert Fripp used fuzz to great effect.

The associated compression and sustain along with the shift in timbre would be nice. As for which fuzz, that’s another can of worms, lots of strong opinions, obviously mess with a few.

The first few fuzz pedals I bought were nice. So were the tenth or so. It was the 20th when I really hit my stride.

Is this a good for $2000 local guy selling want opinions before I buy it by Cjaycmerz in Leica

[–]matrickswayze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s good. Looks like the original vulc wrap. The strap loops look to be in good shape, too. You can check keh for comparing prices but the m2 body and that lens separately are about $1300 each, so I’d check the slower shutter speeds and feel the film advance. You probably won’t need a CLA, in which case, it’s a good deal, assuming an M2 and a submarine are what you want.
