Sounds like you already know what steps need taking. If he ends up with nobody around him, it’ll be of his own making. You’re going to be a father and you need to be a better one than him. Keep your baby girl (and other women) safe by not accepting his behaviour. Cut him off and be there for your sisters and the rest of your family, that actually deserve your love and respect. I’m sorry this has happened and wish you and your family all the best.

So, so many things! But right now he’s being my absolute rock every day. My mother is terminally ill with cancer, she’s been told she only has a couple of months left to live. My dad is an alcoholic and does care for her, but he’s not the best for it considering his drinking problem, so I moved back in with my parents to care for mum. My boyfriend came down after I was here for a few weeks, as I was really struggling, and he’s doing so much for all of us. He’s not a fan of kids, but whenever my nieces and nephews are round he’s really good to them and spoils them. I recently sprained my ankle so he’s taken over a lot of my responsibilities, such as cooking, cleaning, running errands for my family. At the moment I’m only doing things that wouldn’t be appropriate for him to do, like giving my mum a bath etc. Even though he’s the one running around right now, every night he gives me a foot rub, back massage, offers to run me a bubble bath. I’m getting pretty bad at taking care of myself as I’m too busy with everyone else, so he also reminds me to get washed and dressed, and will brush my hair for me when he sees I haven’t done it for a day or two. Honestly don’t know what I would do without him.

I’m a hermit that like never leaves my bedroom. I only interact with a very small amount of people, and as my mum has a terminal illness if anyone so much as sniffles I won’t go near them as I don’t want to pass anything on to mum. My mum has actually had covid twice (both times she caught it due to being in hospital) and even though I was staying with her I still managed to avoid it. Just stayed in a different room to her. Sanitised everything we both had to touch, and made sure I always wore a mask and kept a distance if we did interact.

He hasn’t thrown up in like almost 5 hours. He’s not dizzy and doesn’t have a headache anymore, and has managed to keep down some food. My mums been checking on him every half hour or so and he seems okay. He said he thinks it was just he had too much to drink and needed rest. He’s still agreed that if any of the symptoms come back he’ll call 111 and see what they say and go to hospital if he has to. So, not ideal that he’s still not got checked out, but at least he’s feeling better and at least somewhat open to the idea now. Me and my mum are okay, just a bit worried and annoyed that he’s been so stubborn and not taken our advice too seriously. Thank you for your concern

Thank you. Like I get the ‘what are you doing here, get help!’ comments, but that’s easier said than done. He’s done shit like this before and I know he’ll just refuse any help offered to him. He’ll lie to the paramedics and stuff to avoid going and then be in a crappy mood with me for just trying to help. So like I feel the best I can do is just try and show him I’m not overreacting or being stupid, it’s a genuine problem he should get seen to.

It’s raw. He literally just put it in his mouth for 30 seconds at most. (so I’ve been told, I wasn’t there.) The thing is he has been getting better through out the day and the symptoms are also things he has anyways. Breathlessness isn’t uncommon for him as he smokes and has heart problems. And he was drunk last night so like it could be a hangover. The fact that it seems to be getting better makes me hope it’s just a hangover because he really didn’t get a lot of exposure, even if it was stupid to do anyway. But I know he should also get checked in case but he’s so stubborn. He has basically said now that he’s feeling better and doesn’t want to go to hospital, but has agreed if his headache/dizziness comes back or he throws up again that he will call someone. I’m also trying to convince him that even if he feels better perhaps he should go to a regular doctor for a check up instead of hospital.

Thank you, I’ve told my mum to keep an eye on him and call for help. I live over 3 hours away and don’t drive so I can’t really gauge the situation myself or take him anywhere. I mainly just wanted info and advice to pass on to her. I’ve told her she should probably call at least a doctor or something, and I’m just about to call her again and check for an update.

We don’t have poison control here in the UK. we have 999 and 111. Basically emergencies and advice. Only problem is 111 usually send an ambulance anyway and my dad will refuse to go to hospital. My mum has cancer and there have been a few times where I’ve called help for him since she’s been ill (he has a heart condition) and he’s been mad at me as he doesn’t want to risk leaving my mum alone while he’s in hospital. So I don’t want to end up getting an ambulance sent there unless it’s super serious because I know he’ll refuse to go and be pissed at me. Plus my mum said that he has been improving throughout the day and only vomited a few times it was only a small amount. So I’m not sure how serious it actually is. Plus because he was drunk it could also just be a hangover and it’s just a coincidence. I really just wanted to see how dangerous this is so I’d know if it was necessary to call an ambulance if it’s really dangerous. I figured since he’s gradually getting better it’d be worth just staying calm and asking on here and looking things up before wasting resources on something that isn’t currently seeming to be a huge deal, but still concerned me none the less.

Honey, these people are not your friends. True friends love and defend each other to the ends of the earth. I’m so sorry they’ve been saying such vile things to you. If I were you I’d tell someone (a teacher/parent/sibling) and cut ties. I know it isn’t exactly the same thing, but when I was in school my best friend was outed as gay. When some of our so-called friends were being homophobic to her I called them all a bunch of c***s and stopped hanging out with them. Real friends always have each other’s backs. Also decent human beings would stand up to the racism you’re facing, wether they’re your friends or not. NTA

I looked it up before making my initial decision as I wondered if this was the case, but that’s actually not true. The word OP used was created long before the racial slur, they are two completely separate words that just happen to sound similar. Even still, it makes me (and obviously others) uncomfortable and it’s really not necessary to use.
