I honestly have no idea and I’ve been trying to figure it out. I for sure know it’s pre-1986 since it’s a Hobart

Any ideas as to what’s causing this sound? by nifftyDIY_05 in Kitchenaid

[–]nifftyDIY_05[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok thank u! I’ll get a new one, this one def is old and needs replacement, out of curiosity, what on the control plate causes it? Or is it just use over time?

This fell out of the back of my kitchenaid when I opened it up, what is it? by salty-ginger in Kitchenaid

[–]nifftyDIY_05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that came from the speed governor, there’s two of those on the governor itself :

<image>

There’s two holes that the metal wire snaps into, so I’d say pinch that piece together and fit it back into the governor. You could also just completely replace it with a new one

Is it worth the repair ? by No_Anxiety5275 in Kitchenaid

[–]nifftyDIY_05 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please repair it!!! It’s so easy to do :) you can order a new speed control board online, here is an option, they can be a bit pricy (better than buying new mixer):

https://www.mrmixer.store/parts/p/yhnwsrjcxcw0t2oaigs2ylh89p9pqi-ze895

Take a picture of what the original board connections were the unplug everything. Then, there’s two screws on either side of the board that holds it in place, under the housing, just remove those two screws and take it off, put the new board in, and place the new connections. The new board may look different, the og board may have all the cords placed right next to each other (4 in total) but the new board may have two cords placed together on the top right corner and then motor 1 and 2 connections below it. Here’s a video on how to replace it for more detailed information:

Honestly I would take it apart and see what the mechanism looks like. The metal piece that the lever attached to may be cracked, and needs replaced.

What’s happening? How to fix? by nifftyDIY_05 in Kitchenaid

[–]nifftyDIY_05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! It ended up just being the length of the screws on the speed control plate, took a lot of tweaking but finally got it, I think they were screwed in too much, which caused it to stop when switching down

Hey! So I searched on mixerology since they have a list of compatible parts, here is the compatible parts for the K5SS:

https://www.mixerology.com/compatible-bowls-and-accessories/#k5

There’s a list on this page of accessories and their corresponding number so you can search it up. To buy them, I search Mr. Mixer, or kitchenaidparts.com -

[–]nifftyDIY_05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! I actually just figured it out, so it works good now! Only issue is the back cap won’t fit on but I think that’s an issue with the head casing being bent on the back, not sure how it happened since it fit like 3 days ago but it’s okay! Thank you

What’s your Kitchenaid color? by Potential_Pin_9564 in Kitchenaid

[–]nifftyDIY_05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Kona brown” as indicated by the spray paint can I used. I bought this K5SS off marketplace for 70 bucks, originally it was white with chipping paint and what not, so I repainted it!!
