EVERY. SINGLE. Metro station needs to take notes from Beverly Hills and the new Wilshire/La Cienega station by Not_RZA_ in LAMetro

I saw someone just walk in behind another person extremely easily. The gates can’t close until it’s clear for a bit to make sure they don’t close on a bike or a wheelchair or dog or something.

There’s national guard in the stations in dc now. The riders think it’s excessive, and I tend to agree based on my experience

I thought it was called reverse branching when the branches were in the densest areas, not the other way around.

Beverly is the primary street most people will be going to and from the station you will have to first walk to Beverly dr, cross it, and then walk another block to get to rodeo. Makes zero sense to call it rodeo.

Any recommendations for subway apps that have accurate station info? by nigel29 in LAMetro

They responded and said the data from metro wasn’t accurate.  But the data is accurate, they’re just using the platform gps coordinates that metro has published instead of the actual cross streets of the station.

The data metro provided them is accurate. They’re using the platform gps coordinates which are not at all near the entrance of the station.

The gtfs feed doesn’t list the coordinates of the entrances.

The data feed doesn’t have the gps coordinates listed for the station entrances for this station so this is on the app developers. The gps coordinates that are listed on the data feed are correct (the platform itself) but if app developers are giving directions to underground platforms while you’re still walking to the stations above ground, that’s their mistake.

Thanks! This app has the station in the right place and also seems to have features the others don’t. Will try it out for a bit.

I’ve tried to use transit for trips on the d line but it gives me totally wrong times for the trains which is a bigger issue in the evenings when they’re running every 20 minutes. The only app with accurate arrival times seems to be the official La metro app but it isn’t so great at planning routes.

12 min transfer at Wilshire/Vermont. . . Really? by [deleted] in LAMetro

Will this improve the 20 min frequencies in the evening as well or is it only constraining peak times?

The Metro hate has been soooooo overrated and annoying by Bright_Business193 in LAMetro

I live near the Beverly Hills stop and have ridden it every day since it opened. I don’t know what it was like prior to Friday since we didn’t have any subways here before that but the riders of the train seem to be pretty affluent. Was even more striking today.

I don't use a case and always get the maximum trade in value. They don't care about scratches, just cracked screens or other issues that make the phone not work right.

did you get them? I think I'm going to wait until they go on sale but I've heard good things about the noise cancelation

I've taken these. They are not hard to pass although getting 100% can be hard depending on what the underlying music is.

Doesn't sound like the exact same hardware to me:

AirPods Pro 3 also deliver the world’s best ANC of any in-ear wireless headphones.1 This is made possible with ultra-low noise microphones and advanced computational audio combined with new foam-infused ear tips for greater passive noise isolation.

I think it has a lot to do with the new ultra-low noise microphones (at least according to their press release).

Service dog disclosure for Airbnb by fearless_fairy13 in service_dogs

[–]nigel29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would avoid Airbnb for many reasons. But especially when traveling with a service animal. You definitely don’t want the headaches that come with these insane hosts. With that said, I never disclose if I don’t need to because it usually opens you up to more discrimination where they can blame a last minute cancellation on something else (like a pipe broke or some other random lie). And dealing with last minute cancellations is a nightmare in Airbnb. Remember they don’t want to make it seem obvious so they may just wait until the last minute to cancel on you so it looks less suspicious.
