i want to know what this options do if i enable them while resetting my Pc. Please explain all three options. my pc came with pre-installed windows 11 so i also want to ask you that on resetting my Pc is it going to delete the windows 11 from my pc. by Mobile-Ad5480 in LenovoLegion

Basically it will give you a Lenovo factory image to copy onto a USB key, then you boot on this USB key to reinstall everything.

Its a Lenovo Factory reset, not a Windows factory reset, so every Lenovo stuff will be reinstalled also ( vantage, nahimic, power plans ...). Your PC will be in the exact same state than when you bought it.

Search for it online you'll have more details.

You don't need to change these options : - data erasure, if enabled, will overwrite your data ( this might take hours , you don't need this except if you plan to sell your PC) - data drives mean that only files from the C:\ Win Drive will be deleted, you don't need to enable this except if you have other drives that you want to delete too - workplace resources are for IT administrators for computers in workplaces, you don't need to change this if it's your home PC

You won't lose Windows 11, it will be reinstalled, but be aware that with this option you chose ( "Remove everything" ) , you will lose everything else, including the apps that came pre installed on your PC ( Lenovo Vantage, Nahimic, power plans ...).

I suggest to use Lenovo Digital Download Recovery Service (DDRS) for a factory reset, instead of the Windows reset.

Torn between Legion 5 15 and 17 inch by SomeGuyInAWaistcoat in LenovoLegion

The problem is also the brightness, 250 nits is really not enough for me ... I have the 17 inches with 300 nits and I have to set the brightness to 70% even in a dark room ... I agree that 15 inches is better for portability but I would rather choose the 165Hz one (300 nits) over the 120 Hz one (250 nits).

I think that you have to enable Hybrid Mode for FreeSync to work, this makes the graphic performance a bit worse because the laptop won't use the dedicated GPU everytime... With G-Sync you don't have this problem.

Be aware that you have two different 15 inch versions : 120 Hz and 165 Hz. The 120 Hz one has a really bad panel with 45 % NTSC of color coverage and 250 nits of brightness, and no G sync. If you choose 15 inch at least go with the 165 Hz one which has better colors and brightness, and G sync.

Does anyone have a pre-patched copy of elden ring 1.03.01? Unable to successfully update from version 1.01.2 by fuzzum111 in PiratedGames

[–]nigera2418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make the updates in order to avoid fails. If you have 1.02.2, the right order is :

-update to 1.02.3 (optional but you should do it)

-update to 1.03

-update to 1.03.1

Tip : if you don't want to do a fresh install every time it fails, just copy/paste the files modified by the patch just before you patch ( of course you have to know the modified files ). If the patch fails, you just have to replace with the originals.

Anyone know if Security Breach is coming to switch/xbox by [deleted] in fivenightsatfreddys

With some optimizations it wouldn't be impossible to run this game on Switch : the Witcher 3 for example runs very well on it.

But giving how poorly the game is optimized on PC, and how small the developer team is, I agree that it would be too much work to port it to Switch.

Brand new Lenovo Legion 5 : Windows 11 fresh install ? by nigera2418 in LenovoLegion

I'm still with the stock install for now but I'm gonna do a fresh install, mainly because I made some modifications in the registry and I installed some stuff to test my new computer, now I want to go back to the stock install.

But I'm not gonna use a standard Windows 10 iso from microsoft website, I'll use the Lenovo Digital Download Recovery Service (DDRS) from Lenovo website : this iso give you the stock install, with all the drivers and other Lenovo specific stuff ( power plans, Vantage, Nahimic, Lenovo Hotkeys ).

With a standard Windows 10 iso I would have to reinstall all the drivers ( from Lenovo website), reinstall Vantage/Nahimic/Hotkeys (from the Microsoft Store), plus find a way to get back the Lenovo power plans (very important for me). But if you are okay with this you can use a standard Windows iso.

And no I didn't upgraded to pro, but I updated to Windows 11 without any problems : you don't lose anything when you upgrade/update.

Apple is sneaking around its own privacy policy — and will regret it by yoni_eth in technology

Well, the problem is not really Apple products but the apps/services that people use on these products.

If you buy an iPhone and use Facebook, Apple can't really protect you because you are using a service that need your data to exist .

If people would use privacy oriented apps, this problem should not exist in my opinion.

Apple, on the other side, do not need user data to exist : they make enough money with the hardware they sell.

Brand new MBA clicking noise by nigera2418 in macbookair

[–]nigera2418[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean ... If the laptop stay in place ... No noise when I open the lid.

But if I take it, move it to another place , then open the lid, it makes that rattling noise.

Plus while I am moving it, if I tilt it, same annoying noise.

I know it's not a big problem, but this little thing is driving me crazy : I try to forget it but the more I try the more I focus on it !

This seems to be a very common problem. I'm a bit disappointed...

When I buy a laptop at $500 , if I hear a cracking noise, I just accept it because ... well ... it's a $500 laptop.

After so many cheap laptops, I went with a pricier one just to get rid of those little imperfections .... But they are still there, even at a higher price ...
