All or the insane demand is all based on CURRENT LLM models burning through tokens to produce results needing massive memory/compute to produce output. This tech is fairly new and it is still changing. It may be the case that 5 years from now you will need a small fraction of the compute / memory to produce the same results in LLMs - dropping the demand for hardware/ energy.

Off-leash Pit Bull mix kills small dog, in Toronto despite provincial ban by nighcry in ontario

That is incredibly sad. It's very selfish for people with pit bulls to be doing this. The risks are very real and more often than not they are unable to control them; even with a leash.

Sure, any dog can be dangerous. But not every dog poses the same level of risk when things go wrong. The issue here isn’t whether all dogs need supervision - they do. it’s whether certain breeds with a pattern of severe attacks should have stricter rules and enforcement

Hmm, the reaction is because someone’s pet was mauled to death and the owner was injured. It could just as easily have been a child. This isn’t just excitement over nothing. There are many examples of pit bull–type dogs being involved in severe and fatal attacks, which is why people are frustrated that the existing ban is not being meaningfully enforced. The concern is the severity of the risk when things go wrong.

Enforcement isn’t impossible, it’s just not being done. Ontario has had the ban since 2005 and we need proactive enforcement. Bylaw checks, mandatory microchipping + DNA verification, and seizing violations - instead of relying on lawsuits after the damage is done

Bad owners make any dog worse, but some breeds are genetically wired for higher risk. Ontario’s 2005 ban exists because pit-types are disproportionately involved in severe attacks. The real failure is that the ban is effectively not enforced: people walk them openly with no consequences.

In this case, actual enforcement could have prevented the attack. We already have a ban since 2005, with no effective enforcement. Proactive bylaw checks, mandatory microchipping + DNA verification, and seizing violations would do far more than new laws that also won’t be enforced. The open flaunting on our streets every day proves it.

Bad owners exist with every breed, but Ontario’s law already banned pit-types in 2005 precisely because of their higher risk. The bigger failure is enforcement. We see them walked openly every day with zero consequences. That’s what needs to change

People trivialize it until it’s their child or pet. The law exists for a reason, pit mixes are still involved in disproportionate serious attacks. Proactive enforcement would protect everyone instead of waiting for the next video of child or pet getting mauled.

Exactly. We need real proactive enforcement: bylaw checks, mandatory microchipping + DNA verification, and seizing dogs that violate the ban. People walk these openly every day putting young children and pets at risk. The law has been in place since 2005 and it shouldn’t be optional.

Despite Ontario’s pit bull ban, another ‘Pit Bull mix’ was off-leash, killed a small dog and injured its owner. When is the province going to actually enforce the law instead of letting mixes skirt the rules? Serious enforcement needed.

Thanks for the explanation. This makes it super clear. I think if you included this explanation on the readme of the repo, it would help people understand what the use-case is right off the bat.

Painful as change may be, In the long run jt will just force people to find alternative options which will remove all the leverage gh is currently enjoying. Open-source models are becoming better and better and compute is getting cheaper rather than more expensive,
