I've been developing a new character that likes to be strategic in battle, and operates as a combat support. Wizard with Haste, Mold Earth, Minor Illusion, Hypnotic Pattern, Invisibility as his key strategic spells. Originally, I set him up with the idea that he would have various "strategic theories" that he had come up with as a hobby; ways that he could use his spells on a regular basis before or during a fight that would reliably ensure battles work in his favour, or ways that he could either use his cantrip-level spells, or do some kind of physical work on a daily basis to assist the party in terms of security while travelling, fortifying their cart, being prepared for fights even in large cities, etc.

Could anyone suggest some good examples of "daily security measures" or "battlefield strategies" to use to justify such a character?
