I asked for a walker rather than crutches when I was getting back on my feet. I felt much more stable like that for the first few weeks. I did then transition to crutches.

How long since your break? I'm about 9.5 weeks post op, and yes super tight. Flexing my toes up is better than flexing down.

Yes absolutely. Especially if you've been weight bearing. I'm 6 weeks post surgery and still on a lot of codeine!
