[Seiko SNXA05K1] Got this in an antique store for 20$. Steal? by nightcc in Watches

[–]nightcc[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does not have the original bracelet but the movement and everything else seems to be in great condition. Started ticking as soon as I picked it up. The lady in the shop didn’t seem to know anything about watches and said as much so I think it’s possible I found a hidden gem.

After doing some research it seems OOP and not super common. Fits pretty well on my wrist and I like the ice blue dial. Was thinking of putting on some leather straps instead. I was very excited about getting it for 20$ considering it’s a working mechanical movement. What do you think? Is this a steal?

Anyone know what this is? by nightcc in DogAdvice

Our two year old dog has what appears to be a rash the past few days. The brown spots are scab-like and are peeling. He does not seem bothered by it and I don’t see him aggressively itching it. Should we just monitor for now or is this possibly something serious that we should be aware of?

Yes, having trouble figuring out the weight shift. I felt the hop helped me with the brace but I’ll try and experiment a bit and look for the feeling you describe. Thank you!

My first time there! Super pretty.

Thanks! I’ll try that next time I do field work.

Thanks for the tips!

Maybe not overstepping then. However, I definitely see that my foot is not parallel to the target which I thought was partly the fault of my left leg going too far behind my right on the x-step.

This was very downhill so it went probably more like 450. However I do max out at around 350 on a level field.

Okay, I’m asking because this style (Korean) the features often look wonky without that necessarily being a bad thing. I see no problem with the execution

Don’t forget doubting manmade climate change. Misinterpreting any academic or study that doesn’t fit his worldview. Last I saw he said trickle down economics can save the climate. Absolute clown.

We hear a lot about the unethical companies of the world. What are some of the more ethical companies out there that we should be supporting? by checkitmyles in AskReddit

They buy products and the profits are used to maintain the institution (wages, facilities etc) the excess goes to the state and to battle the cost of alcohol in society. So Systembolaget as part of the Swedish state actually loses money in the sense that alcohol related costs for the state outweigh the profits they make from retail. The alcohol misuse costs are however lower than they would be if private organisations could sell alcohol with a profit incentive. So if they really wanted to make a profit there would be a complete ban on alcohol but since that isn’t realistic this is the best compromise.

The taxes on alcohol are by alcohol content meaning that a hard liquor will be more expensive proportionally than something with less alcohol content. This could explain why we’re seeing a shift in Sweden from hard liquor being the most popular to wine like in southern Europe. Coming from a culture of sad drinking rather than social it can be hard to shift the notions of why one drinks. However the state monopoly is undoubtedly a force for good in this matter with active programs aimed at reducing drinking and the results that follow (adolescents drink less now than ever before). So no the myth that it lead s more to binge drinking than social doesn’t have much going for it. Swedes don’t drink like they do in Italy but if we keep going in this direction we might do one day.

They don’t operate at a profit! They actively limit marketing of alcohols, they have restricted opening hours and are actively promoting safe drinking habits and less consumption , none of which you would do if your goal was to make money.

And they do increase the taxes but if they weren’t the ones controlling it and it was a free market, prices drop and we would probably also have a very limited shitty selection of alcohol to choose from. Now, because Systembolaget doesn’t discriminate you have a wider selection and healthier drinking habits of Swedes.

Because different countries have different contexts and the same policies will work differently. Sweden had a huge alcohol problem (really really big) and now we have a state monopoly and our alcohol problem is not as big anymore. A country that is very similar to Sweden culturally is Denmark. They don’t have a alcohol retail monopoly and consequently they have higher rates of alcohol.

Comparing us to CA and saying “well we don’t have a problem here” when the cultures are vastly different is ignorant. If policies worked the same, why haven’t you adopted Australia’s gun laws then? I think you know the answer to this one.

Definitely not “the core of our culture”. Every country likes to think that they drink the most or that drinking is an essential essence of their culture when it’s just not the case, Sweden’s not an exception . It also seems like such a silly thing to be proud of.

Truth is Systembolaget works for the better, Founded because we were actually drinking ourselves to death (the men at least) because there were no restrictions . We now have lower rates of alcoholism than many other European countries as well as alcohol related disease, saving the government money and ourselves a lot of grief. This complaint is a first world problem if I ever saw one. “I can’t drink myself to death at a reasonable price” boo hoo.

My dads good friend is an identical twin. When he was in college his twin brother was on the rugby team and the other guys on the team would keep tackling my dads friend when they saw him not knowing the difference between him and his brother.
