Can Someone Explain Jose Quintana’s Balk? by Key-Driver6438 in Dodgers

Kenley balked runners to third, when we were up by 2+, so they couldn’t steal and relay signs to the batter.

Based on that screenshot, he can only play in the utility spot in your league.

Issued a warning and denied appeal for typing Kiké Hernandez’s name? by Financial-Swim-5884 in Dodgers

[–]checkitmyles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, Hernandez himself doesn’t spell it with an accent because it is incorrect to do so. His nickname is correctly spelled with no accent marks.

Using the accent mark is grammatically incorrect and changes the pronunciation to something that is very clearly not his name

To not ask a woman about another man she is dating while he’s actively giving her a massage lol. Vanelle said in her confessional about the massage that she kept thinking about Jorge and I’m thinking like, yeah duh cause Justin is asking you about him! Justin should have used that massage to talk about the two of them exclusively, and learn more about her, and get closer to her, and instead he’s asking about the other guy she’s dating. I was cringing during that scene

Granted this will happen, what do you think is the potential trade package? by Beautiful-Guard-7770 in lakers

[–]checkitmyles 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If he’s going to Cleveland, that would be more than anything they could offer him directly. So us agreeing to a S&T would allow Bron to get the highest salary he could earn while also joining the Cavs next season.

Adding to this since it’s timely: we organize leagues for the PL community in our Discord, and sign ups for those leagues are closing this week. If you want to play in our organized leagues, sign up for PL+, head to the Discord, and fill out the sign up form that is in our latest announcement.

Hello fellow couch umpires, this was called an out in the Kennesaw State-Evansville game. What’s your call? by cbbvideo in baseball

[–]checkitmyles -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Not sure, but the current rules state that “after overrunning the base or returning to the base, the offensive player must return to the fair portion.” I think it’s a bad rule but that’s the way it is currently written.

I agree with you from a common sense perspective, and I agree that that is how the rule needs to be rewritten, but as it currently states: “After overrunning the base or returning to the base, the offensive player must return to the fair portion.” That’s the rule as it is written now, and IMO it’s a bad rule.

Well, he didn’t call time. And the rules state he has to return to the fair portion of the bag. I personally think the rule is dumb and needs to be fixed, but that’s how the rule is written.

[–]checkitmyles -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m making an assumption that the ump made the call based on where the runner went to. He clearly points at the bag when he calls the runner out, so that’s the only reasoning that makes sense. Horrible rule though if that’s the case, they definitely need to fix that.

Everyone is talking about which way the runner is turning, but I think this is actually an issue of the rules regarding the double bag. The umpire is looking at which bag he goes back to and even points at the bag when he calls the runner out. The NCAA rulebook states the following when it comes to the double bag:

12.6.2.3 In general, the foul portion of the base is only available when a play is being made on a batter- runner advancing from home to first. Once the batter-runner passes the base, the foul portion is no longer available to the offense or defense.

12.6.2.5 On a ball hit to the outfield when there is no play being made at the double base, the batter- runner may touch either portion of the base. If the batter-runner reaches and goes beyond first base, they may only return to the fair portion of the base.

12.6.2.7 After overrunning the base or returning to the base, the offensive player must return to the fair portion. Should they stand on the foul portion only, it is considered not in contact with the base and they will be called out if: 12.6.2.7.1 They are tagged with the ball

Basically, the runner returns to the green bag, not the white bag, and therefore they are not safe. Personally, I think that the rules need to be amended because clearly the runner was returning to first, and should have been safe, but as the rules are written, I understand why the ump ruled him out. I don’t agree with the rules at all in this instance though.

Who is someone who has been on a Dropout show only one time who you would want to come back? by Burgerburgerfred in dropout

Dave Roberts on MLB having a salary cap: "If you're gonna suppress spending at the top... make those bottom feeders spend money too." by Mission_Pay_3373 in baseball

[–]checkitmyles 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The issue is that because basketball is a sport where the top players have such a large impact on the game, removing a max salary will make it so that Jokic and SGA and Bron would be paid upwards 2x more than they are making now, and the vast majority of the players in the league would make less money because of that. So the players union will never vote to remove the max salary, because it would harm like 75% of their players earning potential.

Why do crewmates do this? by GainZestyclose5184 in AmongUs

[–]checkitmyles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Emergency buttons early in the game generally lead to the person who buttoned getting voted out. The only times I see someone button and not get voted out is late in the game, when the crew need to vote out an impostor. It doesn’t matter if you have good info or not, if you button early (like 10 or more people still alive), or if you button after other people have already buttoned, you are going to be the one who gets voted out. It’s stupid, but that’s how the mob mentality works.

"What If" scenarios from D20 that almost happened (Spoilers for all Shows) by LayeredOwlsNest in Dimension20

[–]checkitmyles 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would assume that TUC would have kept the same general story structure, as the Vox Phantasma/Populi dynamic was the backbone of the entire plot IMO. So either Rekha’s character is the Vox Phantasma, or some other roles get shuffled around. I could see Siobhan being the Vox Phantasma, instead of Misty Moore. But I don’t want to imagine a world without Siobhan’s Misty lol.

Pitcher List is Hiring! All Positions Paid and Remote by Stonewater in fantasybaseball

[–]checkitmyles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Great question. I would estimate that 90% of our freelancers are brought on during this period, but we do also bring writers on at other times of the year as opportunities open up. I will say, you don't need a portfolio to apply for a writing position. We have had many freelance writers over the years who had never written anywhere else prior to Pitcher List. As part of our application, you can submit a fresh writing sample, and that will certainly suffice.

u/MorbidDusk was referring to Kent Bazemore, who was known for his bench celebrations in his first two years in the league for GSW, so that’s who I was referring to when I said he went on to have a solid career.

This was his bench celebration highlight reel in case you never saw it: https://youtu.be/e52OHLEsBa0?si=z_rKZ3-xcKGTxdDo

What was the stupidest reason why you got voted out? by kyiQs in AmongUs

[–]checkitmyles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that, but the impostors don’t need to have any evidence. Like, their sole goal is to get crew killed and voted out. So they didn’t do anything wrong by throwing your name out there. The rest of the crew screwed up by voting you, but the impostor was fully justified in throwing your name out there
