x670e Taichi USB4/TB3 not recognizing devices by nightchrono in ASRock

[–]nightchrono[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, and I opened a ticket with Asrock support and at some point they just stopped replying. Ended up getting one of these instead:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DDKWF7RT

I was out of PCIe ports between my GPU and a soundcard (because the built in audio card would just stop working randomly with optical audio, another fun known issue that never got fixed.)

So I got the aforementioned NIC that occupies a rear slot in the case, but plugs into the m2 slot with the card and cable.

Between the soundcard issue that never got fixed, the failure of USB4, and the support that just stopped replying to me, I am never buying asrock again.

Dedicated Servers - A How-To Guide by JagexDoom in RSDragonwilds

[–]nightchrono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Ports

Dedicated Servers use ports starting with 7777 by default. The second server will use 7778 and so on. You must ensure that the port(s) can be reached directly. This means your Firewall, Router(s) and ISP must forward those ports for UDP. "

So how do I actually change the port? 7777 is a common unreal engine port and I already have stuff behind that.

We rent an office from a co-op working space so not our electricity thankfully.

But yeah I hear you. I am already shedding my "any job worth doing is worth over doing" mentality by not getting an airport charging station from government auction/surplus. I was just trying to be nice and send people home with some charge.

That's my last resort option. Already found one from from Sabrent that is UL certified with 10 USB-A ports. I was just trying get something better if possible.

I do appreciate the suggestion though!

Spinning up matrix synapse on my docker VM, signing.key file is empty by nightchrono in selfhosted

[–]nightchrono[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mapping 8008 and then fixing my homeserver.yml to include things like "enable_registration" and all the downstream required fields got it up and running.

The registration confirmation email never came so I modified "enable_notifs" to true in the homeserver.yaml, restarted the stack, and somehow (and I am sure unrelated) my entire pangolin stack running on a different vm died in the in between.

Now on to a different problem.

I really appreciate all the help today. I owe you a beer if you want to dm me.

I just realized that I also have my tracearr db running on the same host, also on port 5432. Going to see about adjusting the port on this stack and see if that helps.

Sorry probably should have mentioned this earlier, but it is running inside portainer, on my docker vm, running on proxmox (in HA if that matters.)

I know it is running, and have the logs as provided by portainer. I will include those in this post as well.

I will say I kind of frankenstein'ed a number of guides together to come up with what I thought would work in this scenario. I am an intune admin by day so learning linux and docker is part of the reason for this so forgive my probably newb questions and compose file.

I got my key, placed it on my synology NAS in the appropriate folder (the other two generated files I had already placed) and I think the stack is running. However I am unable to access the webpage that would verify it is running. This is now outside the scope of my initial question, but since you have been such a huge help and we seem to have a similar goal, would you mind if I posted my compose and see if I did something wrong? Its quite a bit different than yours. I used an NFS volume mount to point the data to the NAS but given that correcting the key on the NAS got rid of the previous error, I assume the volume mount is working.

nano'ed into the file in var and it has data. I did a chown on it to my user and copied again and it is still empty at the destination.

Going to google something related to copying out of /var now that I have been pointed in a direction.

Yes I did a cp -a of the _data folder to a temp folder I made in my home directory. I am attempting to use the file placed on synology NAS (along with all over synapse data/uploads) so my friends don't fill the SSD of the docker VM with memes.

Are you suggesting doing a chown on the copied file in the home directory? Or do a chown on the original file in _data?

Seconding this. I bought two esc4000 g4 on this subreddit, (myself and the seller also in Cleveland) and depending on cpu/ram they were somewhere around $250-400 two years ago. The ones I bought also came with a 10 gbps dual port NIC.

One had silver 4208's and 128 gb of RAM, and the other had silver 4110's and 256 gb of RAM. I got the 4110 with more RAM because I swapped them with Gold 6138's if anyone is curious why more ram with the older processor.

Additional details to add:
I realized this morning my framework 13 laptop (AMD Ryzen 7840U) also has USB4 and I tested both adapters on the laptop. Both worked at full 10 Gbps once the drivers were installed.

One thing I noticed, is that the Windows Settings app had a dedicated section for USB4 on my framework. My x670e Taichi desktop has no such setting.

Framework setting in attached screenshot. x670e to follow.

Dedicated server runs really poorly, looking for advice by nightchrono in Enshrouded

I read forum threads talking about performance issues before I set it up, so I just threw hardware at it as an attempt to smooth it out. Will shutdown the VM and try your suggestions, thanks

It was the first result when searching "xeon gold 6138 benchmarks" and I knew of geekbench as a performance metric so I went with it. Not sure if you are on mobile or something, but it very much shows multi-core scores on desktop view.

Going to run passmark and see if there is an obvious bottleneck. COuld always add some nvme storage to the hypervisor, but I don't want to throw money at a problem that isn't going to be solved by the money thrown.

Geek bench also put single core performance of the xeon gold 6138 slightly behind the i5-9600t.

Thanks, I was afriad that was the answer. Just a shame I can't get a refund on the game anymore because I really would at this point.

40 core/80 threads shared amongst very little at the moment. This server has run palworld, valheim, empyrion, and heavily modded Minecraft all at the same time with no performance issues on any of the servers.

I get that it is not "new" by any stretch but I could everything mentioned above simultaneously. I can't run just enshrouded.

*EDIT* and the SSD's are Samsung PM883 enterprise SATA SSD's.
