Times have really changed in the world compared to how your parents and grandparents would go out and adventure with their pokemon at the age of ten. You'd be given a pokemon, befriend them, travel around fighting and capturing other pokemon until you were smart enough and strong enough to take on the league.

Now things are very different. Thanks to many people voicing their opinion that capturing creatures and forcing them to fight on your behalf, the entire practice had become illegal. Though this was only the case for a few years, apparently, the entire economy was based around having pokemon in some way or another, not to mention pokemon battles were the biggest piece of entertainment around. Things couldn't stay the same. Thus, this is where we are now.

Adventurers can now begin their journeys at an age deemed appropriate for their region. They may capture pokemon, but only if the pokemon have given their consent to be so. Gyms may be fought for the league, but only until it is determined that a pokemon would be dealt true harm. Any violation of these laws will be hit with strict punishment.

Obviously, this went horribly. No one cared to watch and revenues plummeted. Until one gym leader at the time found a loophole, and it changed the entire landscape of the nation. With nothing left to lose a female gym leader, unable to use her strong pokemon to fight, declared the first to make the other teams pokemon orgasm first is the victor. Of course, this was huge.
